I wonder if this advertisement would be allowed to be shown up here? I doubt it.
I do like my Cranberry Juice and Vodka occasionally but give me a good beer and some wasabi peas and I am good.

I think it would be allowed, but would be a terrible marketing move by Absolut...and they know better.

It may have been a terrible marketing move anyhow, the ad has been pulled due to a negative response from some Americans.
From an article from yahoo:
"In no way was this meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues," a spokeswoman wrote on Absolut's Web site.
I think this is a little ridiculous, I mean don't we have anything better to do than to send complaints to Absolut?

I don't see any real problem with the advertising campaign. to be fair America did do a lot to provoke that war so from the mexican viewpoint there's plenty to be upset about. And it's not like the ad is trying to say that the area should be reconquered, it's just saying that the war should have never happened

wow...I don't think there is a war that we could talk about that people wouldn't be quick to blame the US.
rodent - you really think that add was trying to say the war should never have happened.
bcus - it is the only rational thing to do if you have an issue with something. We complain to mods here if a post offends us so I don't see much difference. Just my opinion.

if you're trying to appeal to the mexican market then yes, it is perfectly reasonable to argue that the war should not have happened. I don't see how it could be viewed as calling for an invasion since all it does is show the original boundaries between the U.S. and Mexico. Also, if you've ever studied the Mexican-American War you can definitely sympathize with Mexico over it. Even Lincoln was opposed to the tactics used by Polk to get us into that war
