Her "making" you sell them though? That's not cool...tell her to get rid of all her makeup and shoes and see what happens...

i need to express my opinion too. my sig pretty much says a lot of what i want to say about some other "collector/dealers" i've seen on here. nobody needs to buy my cards cheap and make a profit on them. i can also appreciate how his wife feels.
this hobby is as addictive as lottery tickets, and everbody keeps buying to get the next big hit. plain and simple its as bad as gambling to some people. and then there are the people that want to trade you junk or buy your cards cheap.
i don't know who keeps pushing the new rookies so the prices go up, its probably the companys and the dealers, because i don't think the collectors want them to go up as much as they have. EXAMPLE >>>> reggie bush isn't a good enough running back to warrant the prices on his cards, and jamarcus russell sat out and hasn't done squat to justify the prices on his cards. just who profits from this? certainly not the collector.
i admit peterson had a tremendous and looks like a terrific running back, but to make him the next payton, sanders, or brown after one season is rediculous.

enough of my rants, and i hate to see an honest collector leave for any reason.

Compromising is a cool thing. My wife buys scratchy tickets and I'll buy a couple packs of cards. It's funny though. She'll lose on the scratchy tickets, and I won't pull squat from the packs, but we'll look at each other and say "it was fun though". LOL....
I feel you with the wife thing...my wife HATED this hobby and would give me so much grief everytime I bought any packs/singles...then, one day we "compromised" (that thing married couples are supposed to do) - she doesn't really have any hobbies, BUT she (like most women) likes to have her hair/nails done, go tanning, and occasionally go shopping.

So I told her, "..look - you can do all your stuff and I can buy some cards, ok?"

It was like a light switch - now, she actually buys me cards!!!

Her "making" you sell them though? That's not cool...tell her to get rid of all her makeup and shoes and see what happens...

O.k. So I got on the site to check a few things and noticed that a few posts have been made. Thanks for the posts. As for the question about my wife. We have been married for three years. I have spent a lot of money, a lot of times. Last month I spent about 200 bucks and we didn't have the extra money for it. So since she has put up with it many, many, many times, she had finally had enough and told me to get rid of them or she would. thats pretty much the jist of it. She actually wanted to post on here and maybe I'll let her so you can all here how upset she really is about it.

She is a great, great, great wife and I could not ask for more from her. It is my fault that this happened and that is why I am taking the respnsibility of getting rid of them.

    thanks again guys.

As some of the posters have said, marriage is a compromise....a give and take kind of thing. Your wife's demand of getting rid of all your cards seems a bit harsh. So, let's compromise. How about keeping certain cards that you like and selling/trading the rest to recoup some of the monies spent on buying them and/or acquiring other cards that you want.

We've tried that. Trust me guys she has tried everything to compromise. This isn't the first time I spent to much money, it's like the fifth time. I guess we did kind of compromise again. I am ONLY collecting Nolan Ryan, just continuing my collection from my childhood. Thanks for the posts
