    I find it amusing that people can even come close to comparing John Kerry and John McCain. Are we even serious? Maybe a little reading is needed, because the lack of knowledge of what the two actually did in Vietnam is obvious. Being a POW for 6 years is the same as getting a few splinters? Let's ask 100 Americans if they would prefer to:

    1. Get shot out of the sky, break your arms ejecting, land in a lake and almost drown, get beat up for hours by the civilians that find you, get stabbed in the groin then spend 6 years in a Vietnam POW camp or;
    2. Drive around in a boat for a year while filming most of it. Getting some minor injuries.

    Let's ask 100 Americans which one they would choose. Hmmmm.. I wonder which one. The comparison is not even close and to even compare them shows a lack of basic background knowledge on McCain and Kerry.

    In my opinion, that John McCain was a POW is a significant issue.

    First, many people that are AGAINST torture will take McCain's view more serious than someone like Obama whose closest experience to torture was being forced to keg stand at a college party. Hillary, well she knows about sniper fire in Bosnia, but not torture. McCain is against torture and/or waterboarding and he speaks from experience.

    Second, can you say McCain hasn't given up or done more for his country than 99.9% of Americans? Americans complain about gas prices and how they now have to wait longer in lines at the airports. McCain complained that the 12 hours of torture was too long.

    If the man was a Democrat I would serious consider him based on what he has given up for his country. He stayed an extra few years in a POW camp because he wouldn't sign anything or leave others behind. I think that is worth something and people who say that is meaningless when selecting a president are likely rabit Democrats that would never vote for a Republican. If McCain was a Democrat the same people would be championing him as a hero like they do Kerry.
