How do we fight it now?
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/n...0,692360.story
Bush/Mccain still insist on no time line even though Mccain has said if they want us out we HAVE to leave(before he changed his mind). They still say it depends on conditions on the ground.
If we don't leave and they want us to doesn't that make us staying illegal?
Oh wait there is not law for this administration
I don't want Obama or Mccain in office in 2009 but it scares the heck out of me to think mccain might be there.

No, it doesn't. After every major conflict, there is occupation. I'm not sure if I agree with the war itself, but we can't just flee a country in disarray.

How come I never hear people whine about how we are still in Japan, South Korea, Germany and the list goes on.

They are not trying to kill us in Japan, South Korea, German and those countries WANT us there. Iraq DOES NOT want us there that is the difference.
It's funny I hear everyone say mccain knows security and it's something obama knows NOTHING about..
lets see
Mccain wanted to invade Iraq (has since the 90's) Obama was against it saying it was a distraction from war on terror
Obama said we have to go after the terrorists in Pakistan. He was laughed and and Mccain said that showed how little he knew (since then we have attacked in pakistan at least 4 times)..
Obama said you should negotiate with people he was called an appeaser and worse by Bush/Mccain and what did we do we negotiated with North Korea and they are doing away with their nukes.
Obama said a year ago that we need to worry about Afgan. now it's deadlier then Iraq.. Mccain still calls Iraq the central front on the war on terror even thought before we invaded they had no terrorists
I would say it's Mccain who lacks foreign experience since he keeps confusing sunni and shiite

What makes you think that another country wants us to occupy their territory? Germany isn't too fond of is being there, but there simply more civilized than terrorist Iraqis.
Obama is backpedaling on his "set a deadline and remove the troops" stance. That's pretty much all over the news, and he's getting down the road from fellow Democrats. So obviously, there's something more to the war in Iraq.
There were no terrorists in Iraq? Are you kidding? There a thousands upon thousands of self-admitted terrorists there! Where are you coming up with this?

Do you think they wanted us there after Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Dresden, etc? We were in open war against them, not trying to help their country. They may tolerate us being there now (I bet you'd be hard pressed to find people who actually want us there), but I guarantee they didn't in the beginning.

You're talking in the past tense... has very little to do with the present. Also, we occupy these countries in extremely small numbers, dwarfed by the number of American tourists that visit them.
Everyone has also failed to note that occupation is usually politically agreed upon. If Japan AS A NATION (I'm tired of people referring to select radical groups) didn't want us there, we simply wouldn't be.
I agree, post-war occupation is common, but Iraq is incredibly stable as of now. Afghanistan, however, if fast becomming a growing concern. While I am the most anti-war person you'll find on the forums, I think this country needs to be addressed moreso than Iraq.

Actually it has everything to do with the present. Looking at the past gives you better insight on how to deal with the present. They were similar situations where the countries we were occupying did not want us there. And it's pretty laughable that you're comparing tourism with military occupation...now that's something that has very little to do with this conversation.
And yes, military installations are mutually agreed upon. But at the time Japan, Germany, etc agreed to let us occupy and/or set up bases, they couldn't really say no because they had just been defeated in a World War. If they had said no, we would have any way...or worse. And now, they can't rightly tell us to leave without causing problems with the best ally they have. Do you honestly think, AS A NATION, that Japan or Germany actually wants us to have military bases there? Why would they? It's simply tolerated because of the politics you're talking about.

Wait, I thought your fellow Democrats said that Iraq was a madhouse, and we lost and everything. Have we prevailed? Bush did something right??
