Wow. That is all I can say on this. I understand the purpose of this "rule" but the bottom line is, folks will decide who to and who not to trade with.
All of this noise regarding this rule which to the best of my knowledge is unique to this site is great but as long as two people agree on the terms of the trade including shipping, nothing else matters.
Smart people know how to verify the name and address of the person they are dealing with. Phone calls can be exchanged if needed. Ship anything of value insured with tracking and if you run across a scammer you have the USPS and the authorities to act on your behalf. Common sense is all that is needed. If you are not comfortable trading with someone, whether they have reached a magic number or not, don't make the trade.

Exactly, people will choose who to trade with and who not to trade with and it's our job to make the community safe, which is why this policy was put into place.

The "Must Send First" tag you see under user names are there for a couple reasons:
- Confirmed bad trader on another site
- Bad trades here on SCF
Those are the two most common reasons for the ones seen under user names.

Unless this site guarantees each transaction by reimbursing someone who gets ripped off, dictating who sends first based on a random # is pointless.
We will be happy to only trade with fellow traders with less than 20 ratings and will also be happy to trade with members whose ratings are over 20 who will exchange with us in a timely manner. If someone wants us to send first we will simply decline to finalize the trade and move on. No harm or hard feelings. Just business.

I agree, I don't think trading needs to be that difficult.

I cant quite understand your logic- you are, in essence, asking people to trust you even though you have no track record here, while saying that you wont trust people who have established themselves. I wish you luck making deals here, because trust has to be earned, especially on the internet. Everyone else seems willing to abide by the rule regarding who sends first, if you arent, I think you will find yourself on the outside looking in here.

Here is our logic. We are a 15 year full time retail business and long standing members of the Beckett Marketplace. Our names are out there, our phone # is out there and our business is out there for all to see. We take in deals every month off our buy lists where people send us cards for review and we never cut a check until we receive what they are sending. In this situation we are willing to trade and ship within 48 hours of finalization and require our trading partners to do the same. So far we have finalized several deals here both using the trade system and without both with members above 20 and below. In all cases those members will get what they are supposed to. We will abide by the rule from the standpoint of anyone who asks us to send first will have the trade declined. There are plenty of traders both over and under 20 who are willing to do business with us. If we end up doing more trading on other websites without this arbitrary rule then fine. We will work with whomever wants to work with us on this site just like we do the others.
We have alot more to lose than most if a trade goes bad since our companies reputation as well as our personal reputations are on the line with every transaction.
I hope that explains it

best of luck trading here. I understand your logic, but I dont see why you would sign up for a site and then question its rules.
