Grading Modern cards

I just seen somebody post that grading a modern card is basically pointless. I don't know a whole lot about grading and values except that it will generally increase the price and value of the card, higher the grade the better, etc. But, wat I would like to know from you experts is what should I be grading?? For example, is it worth it to send in a Felix Jones Donruss Elite Auto RC this year??? Not just Felix Jones either; that was just an example. I'm sure you guys understand what I'm asking. I Would like some feedback so I know what to look for when it comes to sending stuff in for grading.

Also, I just got a Joe Montana rookie for 50 and I'm sending that in as part of my two free bgs gradings. I hope to get a high grade....the card is on it's way to me now!

If you get a nice grading on a high end card, then it is worth it. I will say this, if you are looking to sell, then you might see an increase in value, but not by a whole lot, depending on which card you have. If it's for PC, then it grading is fine. Hope you get a nice grading on that Montana

I have to disagree. Not every thing modern that is "pack fresh" is mint. Centering, dinged corners, and chipped edges are still problems for modern issues. There is also the problem of doctoring and through grading this is a lesser concern (mistakes due happen but at a low rate). Good Luck w/ the Montana.

Grading modern cards isn't pointless whatsoever really...

Grading pointless cards which are only BGS 9 material and below is worthless. But, you don't know whether it's a 8.5, 9, or 9.5 till ya send it in.

Pujols Bowman Chrome RC Auto Refractor sells $2,000+ before grading.

I like my PC cards to be graded. I want to keep them in good condition and not worry about dropping their grade. The only increase in modern cards you'll get when selling is if you get a 9.5 ....the Montana is different.....7.5 sells for around $50....8.5 around $120 and if you hit a BGS 9 or 9.5 your going to see a significant increase.

In my opinion if you are grading modern cards to sell i wouldn't bother with anything under $100 because the return will not be enough since it costs around $15 to have a card graded.

If its your personal collection send all you want in, i love graded cards.

Well put. I like grading for my PC as well. Unless you're doing a larger submission and get a lower rate I wouldn't submitt to get a 9 to try and turn a profit.
