lol...yeah, they were hyping up the race between Pellegrine and Mamaudou because of the switching-of-the-boyfriend....and neither of them medaled....ha!
Yeah, Mamaudou was leading for a few laps, by a few lengths, then lost by a large margin....very surprising! She should know better than to give it her all right away....
US beat China in water polo earlier today, 12-11. US also beat China in women's basketball 107-62 I believe.

OH GEEZ those last two U.S. gymnasts!!! That was freaking insane! Those moves in the air and perfect landings..too bad the judges are such tightbutts that they don't give anywhere near 10s anymore..even the Chinese fans booed the first score, lol..that was exciting

Online coverage!!!
You can watch four events at once. The online coverage is different from TV coverage. I'm watching the Croatia-Russia basketball game online and gymnastics on TV.

4 swimming finals last night - 7 of a possible 12 medals went to the USA! 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze! Yet again, Michael Phelps wins another gold, and drops another World Record in the process. Phelps now has 9 career gold medals, tying him with Mark Spitz and Carl Lewis (and 2 others who I cannot remember)....he goes for 2 more tonight, and winning just one will put him as the all-time most gold medals - 10!
USA wins bronze in the mens gymnastics team competition....very, very good for a team whose members have never been to the olympics before now!
USA Men's basketball vs Angola was already played - not sure if it's already been shown or not, so I won't elaborate....I will say it's not what I expected

The basketball game was live on USA but guessing not many people woke up to watch it.
I just watched James Blake (tennis) live on the internet. Took him 3 sets to win but he moved on to the round of 16. The problem for him is that right now he is in line to face none other than Roger Federer in the round of 8 should they both win their next match. A daunting task but who knows maybe he can pull off a huge upset. If he gets by Federer he'd have a good shot at gold or silver. He wouldn't face Nadal until the finals.

I'm sure the tennis finals will be Nadal and Federer...Blake is good, but not that good.
As for the basketball game, a 21-point win over Angola isn't very impressive IMO....there's a discussion in the Basketball Chat forum if anyone wants to talk about it!
BTW - prepare to hear me scream tonight as Phelps wins 2 more golds, and hopefully breaks 2 more WR! lol

The good news for Blake is that Federer's opponent in the round of 16 is the same guy that knocked Roger out of the 2004 Athens Olympics. Roger has obviously become a much better player since then but still good news for Blake.
I hope Federer and Blake face off though just to make for an entertaining match to watch.

That would be cool....I bet they will play each other, with Federer winning....still should be a good (potential) match!
