Not good news that they are putting Longoria on the DL as well. 15 days

I agree, this is big. Hinske can't carry that offense with Cliff Floyd. This should be an interesting couple weeks while they recover.

This could be the start of spmething special in TBAY. I think they have a great shot as they still get no respect and rather minimal media coverage for a first place club. JAY

Not saying the Rays are legit is obsurd, it's kind of hard to go through 120 games and having it be a fluke. It may be hard to make the playoffs now, with the injuries it's going to be real hard. But if they don't make it you can't say it was all a fluke, it will mainly be due to the injuries, Longoria and Crawford are arguably their 2 best hitters (you can throw Upton in there). Pena and Upton will need to carry the team for the most part, along with Baldelli. Pitching wins championships and their whole crew is still in tact. It's not time to count them out, maybe they won't win, but saying what they've done now isn't legit, is just insane.

And to Spoodini, Cliff Floyd and Eric Hinske? They're no where near their 2 best active hitters, Pena and Upton are by a long shot, Iwamura is a solid player. Floyd barely plays too. They're thinking about calling up Jonny Gomes or Justin Ruggiano to replace Crawford and Hinske can fill in for Longoria. I don't think they're going to rely on Floyd much.

not saying they aren't legit...but this is where you see how good they are. how well they can play through injuries

I agree and yet disagree. This isn't really showing how good they are because 2 of their best hitters are gone, this is seeing how well the can play through injuries. I may be biased because I'm a Rays fan, but it's hard to say that this is showing how good they are, it's showing how they can fight through adversity. But I do understand what you're getting at.

LOL, i'm a red sox fan so i'm sure i'm just as guilty as being biased. you guys picked a good part of the schedule to lose some players though. I think your hardest series the rest of the month would no doubt be LAA and i think Chicago will put up some good fights, but you should get into september without any problems schedule wise
