Once Steve Hutchinson left Seattle...Alexander went from league MVP to a bum...I think this just shows how stupid Seattle was in not re-signing Hutch
I dont think Alexander wants to play anymore, or he would've signed somewhere by now

I agree with others, Alexander most likely wants too much money to be a back-up. The reason the Steelers signed Byron Leftwich instead of Dante Culpepper is because Culpepper wanted starters money and a promise that he would have a shot to be the starter (yeah, right).
If Alexander is determined that he is worth $4-5 mill a year then his career is over.
What baffles me is why nobody has signed Cedric Benson. He was the #4 overall pick just 3 years ago and because of 1 DUI incident he in now ousted from the league? Chris Henry and Pacman Jones get 6 or 8 chances but Benson has one bad occurance and he is unworthy of a 2nd chance???

I think the problem there is the legal problems added to the poor production on the field. Chris Henry and Pacman are good players...Benson has been far from good.

Benson never really got to play until last season and considering the crappy QB issues in Chicago, defenses were looking for the run more than the pass. Benson could be a beast in the right system. If the Steelers didn't already have Parker and Mendenhall I would love to see them get him.
Chris Henry hasn't exactly been amazing either. 88 catches, 1370 yards and 17 TDs in 3 seasons. The TDs are good but the catches and yards are nothing special for 3 seasons in a pass-happy offense like Cincy has.
For that matter, Pacman only has 4 INTs in 18 games. Not exactly awe-inspiring.

Regarding Benson, I have to seriously disagree with you, Benson has had plenty of opportunities in Chicago. I am a Bears fan and I've been watching him since his rookie season. He is lazy, falls to the ground as soon as he gets hit, and is unmotivated. He is a completely different player than he was in college. Is it a wonder nobody has picked him up this season? Teams realize Benson is highly overrated and lacking motivation. I would venture to say that the Steelers or anyone else's running game for that matter, is in a sad state of affairs if they sign Cedric Benson.

Honestly, I haven't watched enough of Benson to really know if it was him or the system...I'm just saying he hasn't put up the numbers. In the NFL, it is what have you done for me lately, as someone said, and he hasn't really done much. He may have potential, but he hasn't proven it yet.
As for Chris Henry, I have to take exception. He's played in 14, 13, and 8 games in his 3 years, so he hasn't even played a full season yet. And his numbers were 31/422/6 in 2005, 36/605/9 in 2006, and 21/343/2 in 2007...all no only as a number 3 receiver, but as a #3 behind Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh, two of the best in the league. There aren't many other #3 WRs in the league who have to play behind 2 guys as good as Ocho and Houshman and none of them have put up numbers even close to that. He could be a #2 on most teams and a #1 on several.
