Appearance is in no way a reason to decide whether or not to like one's politics. Im not saying that was your intention, but that is how I see that post. We all have our bad photos. This is proof that our leader is human like the rest of us. He may not be the best public speaker or use the best grammar but that is in no way a reason to discount his actions.

As president your job is to lead the country, protect the country, do everything to make the country as great as possible. In a time of crisis/fear do you really want your leader picking up rubble? This action was symbolic to indicate that George Bush appreciates the hard work of the men and women at the Ground Zero site. Having George bush stay and clean up is wrong. He is the commander in chief. Do you realize how easy of a target he is on the job site? If the man with control of the military, goes down because he's picking up re-bar instead of preventing terror attacks what kind of message does that send to the international community?

I don't care if people bash me for my opinions, but at least know what my opinion is before you do so...If you had read all the threads, you would see that daniel said he stayed and helped clean up ground zero...Why would I want our president cleaning up ground zero??? Does that make any sense to you? Where did I say I wanted him cleaning up ground zero? If you're not sure what I meant in anything I write, then ask me what I meant....but please don't start twisting things into stuff I never said!

As for the picture, interpret that how you want...it looked good, so I posted it! It doesn't take a bad picture for me to conclude he's an evil man!

The biggest problem I have with Bush is that he seems so far removed from reality it just blows my mind. Costas was talking to him during the Olympics and asked him what he thought was wrong with America. Bush said he didn't think there was anything wrong with America. Sigh. He just doesn't get it. People talk about unnecessary gov't spending and he has managed to do that on two fronts. No, it wasn't all him it was everyone (almost) in gov't so I'm not happy with them as well.

People like to go into what ifs when discussing elections. That doesn't really make much sense. You don't know what Gore or Kerry would have done in the same situations and you don't know if they would have happened.

so you really expect the president of a country to go into what all is wrong with his country on national tv to a sports reporter? I think you could count country leaders who would do that on one hand.

No, I expect him to say "Yes we have some issues to deal with and we are working towards fixing them".

    Ah
The mission accomplished was not "the war" itself but several smaller missions
-Accomplished was the goal of liberating the Iraqi people form a dictatorship
-Accomplished was the suppressing of future terror attacks on American Soil by targeting terrorist bases within Iraq and Afghanistan

The "war" that is continuing now is not what George Bush was referencing in his speech. The war now is a fight against violence between sunnii, shiites, and other sects of the Iraqi society. The full intention of American forces now is to suppress the violence amongst the sects because the Iraqis cannot yet do it themselves. The mission accomplished speech on the carrier can hardly be called relevant to current fighting today because the intentions of the fighting are different.

You can put whatever spin on that you want. Iraqi people do not seem liberated if they are the ones joining militias are targeting our troops. How do you know future terror attacks in the U.S. are suppressed? Hatred for America is more now than it was before we invaded Iraq. There was no Al Qaeda or WMD in Iraq before our invasion. So no, mission was not accomplished. Iraq is still a mess. We still have soldiers dying, billions being spent...but with the election coming up this has not been reported much on the news.

daniel3417-I never said he was "evil". Not sure why you keep replying with that "evil" comment after I type a logical response.

I'm glad Bush said that. I hear everyday how bad Americans are. It's nice to have a leader say otherwise.

well i can't say to much since when bush was first elected in 2000 i had just turned 8 i believe. what i can say is it is his duty as president to make our economy strong, but he is wasting to much money on iraq i think. $2000 a second at this point in time on average, in a war that has done its case, i believe either

    A. Bin laden is dead and has been dead for a long time
    B. USA needs better finders
    C. He is the greatest hider in the history of earth..lol

But it is Bush's fault of situations like Gas, if we as a nation (and him leading) started to look into alternative fuels back when gas was cheap, i don't think prices would be so high as they are now. we are so dependent on other countries that they will charge as much as they want and he will pay it with the money we DONT have.

& last i checked, when Clinton left office, we werent negative in money, last time i checked how Bush was handling our funs, we were billions and billions of dollars in debt.

For my last point, there are more people unemployed right now in a long time, people are beginning to find out we may be in for a recession which brings the dreaded "D" word into effect which no one wants to see. while it may not be Bush's fault, him as president puts the blame on him. I just hope in 8 years we are in a better place than now, and if we are, it'll show Bush was not a good president
