Atlanta Gas Shortage
I don't know if it makes news other than in the areas affected, but the gas situation in Atlanta, where I live, and elsewhere in the southeast is getting ridiculous. Most gas station are out of gas. The ones that have gas are swamped. The lines run onto and down the roads, and people literally wait hours, even in the middle of the night for gas. People wait so long with such little gas they end up running out in line and elsewhere. If you can find it, its regular only. My car typically takes premium, but I was lucky to find any gas and didn't complain. Cost, while high, is barely a concern. If you can find gas, you wont care how much you pay.
Luckily, for now anyway, I have a half a tank, but after this week of school I'll have to go hunting for gas. They're saying the supply wont be back to normal until the 13th of October. Until then, its going to be rough.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems where they are? If so how bad is it? Just curious because I know most of the country has at least a decent supply.

I haven't looked into this.
Why are you experiencing a shortage? Why just that one part of the country?
And why is it expected to stop on the 13th or so?

Apparently, in the Atlanta area and suburbs, since the pollution and traffic is bad, they add some chemical or additive to our gas to cut down on pollution (or something like that). The state just recently allowed gas to come in without these additives to try to help with the supply. That was maybe a week ago, and its as bad as ever if not worse.
Also, the pipeline supplying much of the southeast is not running at full capacity ever since Ike. Tallahassee and some Tennessee and North Carolnia cities are affected as well I believe.
No clue why they are projecting the 13 as when relief will come. I think its just that, a projection, and speculation.

we have a shortage here in western nc too. people get to the gas station at 4 am to wait in line. its been going on for about a week and a half now. almost all of the pumps have bags over them. we have been getting more the past few days but there is still a shortage. just imagine what a terrorist attack on one of our oil refineries would do if a hurricane does this.....

Yeah that's what I've heard. I'll have to fill up this weekend to get to and from school next week, and I am dreading going out to try to find gas. I saw the taker truck at a station on my way to school this morning, but I didnt have time to stop, wait in line, and fill up. There were huge lines before the truck had even filled the station up. Of course, coming home, I saw they were out.

I read a few days ago how Nashville was having problems with gas supply.
I am in SW Missouri, and gas supply is fine here.
