I'm in western NC too and we've had a pretty rough time with it. I know a few of the owners of local stations and they've said the main problem is the pipeline not running at full capacity like you said. The day Ike hit, prices jumped about $.50 in one shot, then went back down the next day. I think they were expecting it to be much worse (the storm) than it actually was and overreacted.
And the problem has been multiplied by the way people have been reacting to it. Instead of just filling up when they need to like normal, people think they have to get more if they get down to half a tank or so...that just compounds the problem. My family has gone about our routine as normal and everything has been just fine.
By the way bravesfan#1, it's nice to see a fellow WNCer in here. I'm in Franklin, so a little over an hour west of you.

Just found out there are some places that are out of mid and premium grade gas, but some just got some delivered the other day. Here in Maine

Woohoo! Got gas just a minute ago. Quicktrip just got some and I beat the rush. Lines were only 10 or 15 minutes long. Now I wont have to deal with the situation for a little while.
