dont like the idea at all- as long as a trade is fairly prompt, why legislate a specific number of days on a trade? you are also putting an awful lot of trust in the PO- since they are not always reliable. Personally, I dont want to be checking postmarks on every package that i get in to make sure it was sent within 3 business days- if the trade goes pretty well, why make it much easier to give negatives?

Ed, I'm not holding a gun to anyone's head. If you get a package that shows the trader waited 40 days to send, you can leave any feedback you want. If you receive a package that is postmarked 40 days late and YOU decide you want to leave a negative you can. That is what this rule is getting at.

What faith do you have to have? You walk into the post office, give them your package and they postmark it in front of you.

I know that if someone is a real slow shipper, I simply wont deal with them again- that doesnt necessarily make them worthy of a MSF tag or a negative...

Well, then you are pushing off a slow shipper onto other members and that is what I'm working on preventing. If you don't want to participate there is no one holding a gun to your head. But with this rule, if a member decides to leave a negative feedback then we will back him 100% if he shows a package was sent past 3 days and their was nothing in the trade manager saying it would be past 3 days.

my 2 cents, it seems like rule making for the sake of rule making, alot of these issues are common sense things, if you cant send for some reason, let the other person know, thats just common courtesy, people just need to be a little more liberal with use of neutrals if need be

We don't make rules just to make rules. I have gotten several complaints. There are some people that agree to a trade, then send 2 weeks later and don't communicate. Traders like this will get negatives and possibly a MSF.

you wanna make another useful rule....come up with some sort of tag, where you can get a brief description of why someone is a msf (trading issues, new member) you get the idea...because it sure seems that every msf i have ever talked to just seems to have no clue why they even have that tag, so that way people can click a button or what not and have there answer

Why does a MSF tag have to be explained? If they want to make a deal on SCF they send first. Do you honestly believe that everyone with a MSF tag doesn't know why they have it? That is like 90% of the US prison population saying they are innocent. :) I can assure you that all members with a MSF tag have it for a reason and we don't just randomly place the tag on people. If they tell you they don't know why they have it and try to get around the MSF rule then they will get an infraction. If you send to a MSF member at the same time then it is at your own risk!

Anyone who tells you they don't know anything about their MSF tag is usually full of it. I've had people tell me that before, only to have them tell me something completely different in a week, or post something completely different the next day.

Mike, you have grown adults on this site, and you have some who are barely teenagers, and i'm flat telling you, i know what's what, but maybe some 14 year old kid won't know, because some guy decided to try and say, "oh i have no clue why that's even there, i have 100% feedback", i've talked to at least 3 msf's on this site who have tried the "gosh, i don't even know why that's there, how bout we send same time" and every time i tell them i dont care why its there or not, your sending 1st

There have been a few slow shippers lately - however, I think 3 days may be a little short. Sometimes things happen - I think at a bare minimum that this should be 3 BUSINESS days, or at the very least not counting Sunday. The other issue I can see is on fairly low end trades, where you may not actually physically goto the post office, the postmark COULD wind up being later than the package was sent out. Just some things to consider - Mike

your site, your rules Mike- just seems like you want to legislate common sense, which is your right, but why make rules for the sake of rules- we have a rule in place- if people dont abide by it, they are responsible for the consequences, why rewrite it or write another rule that basically says the same thing?

    Hi Mike,

I think 3 days is still too long. I would suggest no longer than 24 hours after the agreed mailout date. Communication is one of the keys. The other is keeping promises. Just my 2 cents.

I tried to make a trade with a person who had a MSF tag. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that even if a person has an MSF tag and is trading with a new trader (me) they still have to send first. They said that they have been a member of SCF longer, so they didn't have to send first. And to back up the fact that they all say they don't know why they have it, he said "I don't know why I have the tag. It just suddenly appeared on my account one day." I just laughed...
