Does anyone else notice a pattern. The New England states, with a ton of big cities are blue, and then most of the red states are where there are less cities and more country-side.

It's like that every year. Urban areas tend to be more democratic, rural areas republican.

I don't understand where these networks get off calling a state when a minute percentile of votes has come in. For example, as of right now, McCain leads Michigan by 10,000 votes and only 5% percent of precincts have reported their votes, but Obama has already been declared the winner. Am I missing something?

they are going by the projections from analysts standing outside of the polling places asking the people who they voted for...Now if everyone would lie to them than the projections would be way off
