    Is the Eastern Conference back?

I took a look at the standings, and there are three teams in the West with less than three wins, while only one East team has less than three. Moreover, only three Eastern teams are under .500, while eight Western teams are under .500!

I think that in the last couple of years the East is been getting better and better. It's only as matter of time before they be on top once again

Yes, they definitely are....a bunch of good players have moved to the eastern conference - Ray Allen, KG, Joe Johnson, AI, Elton Brand...only a few have made the move from east to west - Kidd, Big Al (but he wasn't when he was traded), Billups

Eastern Conference is back indeed. But, I wouldn't say they are better on the West soley based on their records (just yet). The West is highly competitive this year. Lakers are claer cut #1, but at least 7 other teams are fighting it out for #2.

I think there have been some key injuries in the West. Deron Williams has played 2 games, and the Spurs are without their starting backcourt. But the East has looked solid thus far.

Very true. Jazz have been without Williams and now Boozer. Rockets have had a banged up McGrady and missing Battier. Spurs without Ginobili and Parker. Kings (yes, the Kings) have been without Kevin Martin for about two weeks now. Golden State would be around .500 if Monta Ellis was playing. Dallas and New Orleans have just been disappointing though.

I'm a western conference guy, so I couldn't lay out the Eastern Conference injuries. Obviously, Arenas comes to mind. Hawks have been without Josh Smith.

Would be interesting to see the head to head record between both conferences so far.

It's too early to tell which Conference is the more dominant one. Last year it was obviously the west, with all the teams being so close.

I think it's good for the league that the disparity between the conferences seems to be decreasing. The West has essentially been the dominant one since MJ retired for a second time in 1998 and the Bulls descended into badness/mediocrity. Since then, only the Heat, Pistons, and Celtics have won titles for the East.

But....and this is a little backwards, BUT....only the Spurs and Lakers have won titles for the west - yes, they've claimed 6 of them, but it's only 2 teams!

The East will be good, but the West will still dominate this year. Give the Spurs some time, they will come back and go deep into the playoffs.
