    J.R. Smith has hardly improved at all. His numbers are about the same as they were last year, except his rebounding totals are up by 2 per game. And as with all other players whose stats are up, he is getting more minutes as well.

    Paul Millsap. He has a streak of 15 consecutive double-doubles, which is tied for the longest streak over the past three seasons in the NBA.

    Millsap is a good choice. As with every other player in the league and in NBA history who has ever had a chance at MIP, his minutes are way up (31 this year compared to 20 last year), but his FG% is noticeably up as well.
