Xbox Live Question
I got a 360 for Christmas and I want to hook up Xbox live. The problem I have however is getting the internet connection to my Xbox. I'm not too good with the tech stuff, so I could use some help.
Here is my situation:
I have DSL hooked up to my computer on my 2nd story. My Xbox is in my basement, two floors below, and thats where I'd like to keep it. Basically, I'd like to know whats the easiest and most cost efficient way to get my xbox set up to the internet.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

You need to get a wireless router for your DSL and buy a wireless Xbox 360 Adapter for your 360. This plugs into a USB port of the 360.
I have a cable modem which is hooked up via ethernet cable to my wireless router. Router sends out the wireless signal, which my laptop, 360, and PS3 receive.
Wireless routers are usually around $50. Xbox 360 adapter is $80-100.

you are going to need the xbox 360 adapter like renegadelonghorn said, but be sure to buy one on ebay. they run about 50-60 bucks instead of the 100 retail price tag.

I was looking on Ebay for one when I saw your post. Would one like this work?
http://cgi.ebay.com/XBOX-360-WIRELES...3%3A1|294%3A50
Or do I need this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/XBOX-360-WIRELES...3%3A1|294%3A50
I understand the first one has to be plugged in, but I have no problem with that, especially if it saves me $20 or so...
Just wondering. Thanks!

First ebay link is the adapter for the first Xbox...Im' pretty sure it doesn't work for 360.
Second link is the adapter you need. That's the only adapter I know of that works for wireless gaming.

Oh, it said it was compatible with both, but I don't really know.

If you have a wireless laptop you can use it as a wireless adapter

I better stick with the newer one specifically for the 360. Thanks.

if you're doing wireless between two floors you may have signal strength issues. That's a whole new ballgame all together if that is the case. Hopefully you don't have any problems but if you do, let us know or pm me.
