You do realize Bush had the same scenario for a few years?

nothing in the coverage has said he is just "better than bush." All the talk has been how amazing of a day this is, this is a turning point, this is history in the making, etc. I know some of it has to do with race, but a lot has to do with Obama and what this country has been fed about him from the beginning.
I love how people can criticize bush for 8 years but if anyone says anything about Obama they are jealous and bitter. Like I said, I am fine if others don't agree, but nothing about this week has said to me we are inaugurating just a president.

If Obama died for your sins, does that mean Bush sinned for your death?

for 4 years, then in 04 dems took over and it seems like everything has been downhill from there, that will probably be good for obama though since they will actually get along, that was probably another reason things didn't go that great with bush is him and the congress/senate were opposite parties and bush can't really compromise with dems that well...and obama is the same way with repubs, but atleast his senate/congress will be same party which should help, but could ultimately hurt him.

When the attacks are often hypocritical, contradictory or fictional then you are damn right I will defend him. Disagreeing with his policies is perfectly fine with me.

My thoughts ---
He threw a lot of red meat to the base -- Iraq, HC, enviro, etc. But he also said some things I liked -- markets, security (but not so much w/ the whole civil liberty angle), defense, self responsibility, etc. I think he may be trying to be all things to all people and that's never good. Good speech though...nothing that will be etched in granite, however.

That is why the President is given the power to veto, so that Congress isn't running the country.
And let's actually give Obama more than 5 hours as President before we determine if he will reach across the aisle or not.

exactly, anyone who attacks bush for 8 years was justified. anyone who says anything about Obama is wrong and off base. Are you saying that all of the attacks on bush have been based on policy and not about him? Yeah right. People attacked Bush first and his policies second. Therefore I defend my right to say things about Obama.
Which, for the record, I said Obama had my support. My issue was with the way the media and this country has treated this week.
