    rose should have been there

Uh no. That simple. LBJ, D will, D howard, and Cp3 didn't even make it into the All-star game their rookie years.

Steals are not representive of defense play. All it means is rondo is allowed to be more aggresive at attempting steals because he has three guys that can cover him if he messes up going for the steal. Defensive rebounding, blocks and how many points the guy you are guarding scores against you as compared to the rest of the league is a better example of good defensive play. I'll give you an example. LBJ is averaging about 28 points a game. If a player held him to 18-20, he played against him well defensively.

Even more intricate on defense is how well players rotate. You won't guard the same guy throughout the night because of picks, players running screens, etc., so even seeing how much a player scored against the opposition player of the same position isn't entirely precise. Sometimes you must leave your man to cover another open guy and rely on someone else to rotate to the next player who is open. The best defensive teams are always the teams who make the fastest rotations to cover other guys. One-on-one defense is important also, but tremendously overrated.

Agree with that but it is a better indicator than steals. Steals are a way overrated defensive stat. It just means you have guys that can cover for you when you go for it. Oh by the way, this makes my point about Rondo. Usually, he has KG in the middle with Pierce and Allen who can rotate to make up for him missing a steal when someone blows by him.

Yeah, I agree - steals just mean a player can anticipate passing and dribbling lanes. And even then, many players try to go after steals too often and get burned by the opposition for buckets.

All of you are aware I'm a Spurs fan...I'm glad to see Parker made it but Deron Williams deserved it more. Maybe Nash.

Parker has had some really nice games this year, and I think he made it over Deron because Deron was injured earlier in the year, thus not having played as many games. And Nash isn't averaging what he could, or has. Not agreeing with the choice of Parker, but just saying why I think he was chosen over others....
