Wow, I just saw it. I cant tell if it was an accident or not, but it sure did ruin a lot of the driver's day.

Imagine stopping the Super Bowl in the 3rd quarter, or stopping game 7 in the MLB, NBA, or NHL with an inning or period left. MLB stopped the All-Star game in a tie (that is an EXHIBITION game) and fans went berserk. I think the biggest loser in this is not the fans, it is NASCAR itself. Stopping the self-proclaimed "Super Bowl" of the NASCAR season before 200 laps is an absolute joke. Let the hype machine build overnight and let the fans go to sleep dreaming of their favorite driver making their move in the last 50 laps (unless Jr. already took out your driver or wait your driver causing Jr to take him out). Poor, poor decision by NASCAR, especially considering the forecast for Daytona tomorrow: "Partly cloudy skies. High 69F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph." Sounds like fine racing weather to me!

Well thats what I call "racing". Jr did NOT wreck Vickers on purpose. Everyone gets their feathers ruffled when they talk Daytona. That is Daytona!! This is why I hate this type of racing. Oh well, on to California!!!!

I like Jr. and all but I have to agree it was a bone headed move on his part. And I also have to agree nascar has seperate rules depending on who`s involved in an incident. That`s been pretty clear for years now.

vickers is watching the race from the pits for 5 laps, just like leffler. gotta protect the i have much less talent than everyone thinks i have earnhardt name.

Well if that's the case then Vickers would still be looking for win #1

The whole different rules for different people is very true. Jr is clearly the most popular driver in NASCAR. This is also true in EVERY sport. Some teams just seem to get all the calls to go their way. It is something that is just part of professional sports. If it it bothers people too much then maybe they shouldn't watch pro sports. Bottem line.

I know what you're getting at, and that's also a valid point, but I believe that was more of a racing incident that intent. This, I thought, showed some intent

If it is ok to change the the rules to fit the person, then NASCAR will be perceived as a glorified WWE on wheels

The race would've been 200 laps if they started it at 1:00 PM like they used to. But they ahve to appease the West Coast crowd...well too darn bad. If I was commish of NASCAR (France would be a lot easier to write than Westgerdes) I would put all races at a 1:00 PM start local time. If you can't watch the race, tape it, TIVO it, or better yet, get you lazy butts outta bed!!!

NASCAR needs to get back to its roots before it's too late...oops, I spoke about five years too late.

i think part of the decision might have been the ratings since the nba all star game was coming on shortly after. we all know how greedy france is
