The race would've been 200 laps if they started it at 1:00 PM like they used to. But they ahve to appease the West Coast crowd...well too darn bad. If I was commish of NASCAR (France would be a lot easier to write than Westgerdes) I would put all races at a 1:00 PM start local time. If you can't watch the race, tape it, TIVO it, or better yet, get you lazy butts outta bed!!!

NASCAR needs to get back to its roots before it's too late...oops, I spoke about five years too late.

I said that same thing to my buddy today. Well, if it started at TWO, instead of quarter to FOUR it would have gone the full 200 laps before the rains came.

And even better, the California race doesn't start until about, what, 5:40 over here on the East Coast? That's an absolute joke. If NASCAR really wants all these races later and later, why don't they just go to a full-time Saturday night schedule?

You clearly don't know NASCAR. Everything Vickers did was 100% legal, Junior shot up and took him out on purpose. A block is legal at anytime, and is never uncalled for, they were racing for the lucky dog, and that's a big deal if your a lap down. If Junior doesn't get a penalty for that, NASCAR should be ashamed.

Dale Jr went below the yellow line though and came back up into Brian. Even if Brian let him go, he would have had to get back behind him. No passing below the yellow.

Imagine stopping the Super Bowl in the 3rd quarter, or stopping game 7 in the MLB, NBA, or NHL with an inning or period left. MLB stopped the All-Star game in a tie (that is an EXHIBITION game) and fans went berserk. I think the biggest loser in this is not the fans, it is NASCAR itself. Stopping the self-proclaimed "Super Bowl" of the NASCAR season before 200 laps is an absolute joke. Let the hype machine build overnight and let the fans go to sleep dreaming of their favorite driver making their move in the last 50 laps (unless Jr. already took out your driver or wait your driver causing Jr to take him out). Poor, poor decision by NASCAR, especially considering the forecast for Daytona tomorrow: "Partly cloudy skies. High 69F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph." Sounds like fine racing weather to me!

They should have just finished today! Would have been a lot better! I was soo mad when Denny wrecked. But then I was soo happy when Elliott Sadler was 1st and Reed Sorenson 2nd. Then not long after he lost the lead, it started raining. UGH. If they would have finished the race he would have had a chance. Finished 5th though.. not bad. Sorenson 9th. Denny 26th.

NASCAR (at all levels) makes boneheaded calls. They made one here in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race at Antigonish when they penalized Peter Gibbons for getting Andrew Ranger loose. Ranger lost five positions, but kept going, Gibbons lost the race.

NASCAR needs to stay consistent with their calls, if they're going to penalize Jason for something that may not of been his fault, they should of penalized Dale the same amount. That call yesterday was garbage, Jr should have finished six laps down and not on the lead lap for a wreck that could have been prevented on the #88's part (the double yellow line is out of bounds at Daytona, right?)..

Vickers forced Jr below the yellow line.


Jr. was above the yellow line(s) and almost all the way to Vickers rear tire before Vickers made contact and forced him below the yellow line.

Jr. backed off and was almost clear before he moved back up and clipped the rear BUMPER of Vickers

If he had intended it why wouldn't he have just done it as soon
as Vickers hit him to knock him below the yellow line?


Blocking is legal, but what do you consider blocking? I consider blocking to be getting in someones way or taking their line away NOT running into the side of their car.

Didn't see the Nationwide race so can't make a call on that, all I can comment on is what I saw during the race and replays

Won't go into NASCAR being inconsistent with penalties for different drivers but they were consistent with penalties where Vickers was involved in this type of incident Talladega 2006- No Penalty........ Daytona 2009 No Penalty. Only difference is he was on the opposite side in each instance

Yeah about that Brian Hit Jr. when he blocked him, therefore Junior hit him trying to gather it up and get back up above the line. I was hoping Jr. would spin him just not in front of the field.

The thing that really got to me was Jr when asked about it and his pit issues.

His reply was that they should look into the pit box rule.....????

Maybe Nascar should explain the Rules to Jr. oh wait they don't apply to him he has the Silver Spoon Exemption.

He passes the pace car and gets a victory last year now he wipes out the field and nothing done. The rules apply to everyone.....sure they do.
