    POSTAGE DUE!!!: My Rant

I don't know if it's because of new postage rates, but in the last 2 weeks I've received AT LEAST 5 PACKAGES from people with postage due on them. This is an extreme pain in the butt. I either have to pay the postage each time, or send it back to them and not get my cards for a couple of weeks. It's obviously not a lot of money, but it's more the principle of it.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE people, make sure you put enough postage on your items!! Thick envelopes do not cost 80 cents. They are $1.18 minimum, without DC.

    Thanks, and happy trading!

Ken I for one go into the P.O. and mail all my cards. First because of what happened to you. Second I have a receipt showing I shipped if I do not use DC. People its not that hard. Also Ken is within his rights to give you neutral or negative feedback for your own carelessness

I learned this the hard way a few weeks ago, and also had two incidents before in the last four years. The P.O. is the safest way to go, even if the P.O. is far away and very busy (I can't always make it because of that; there was even a public commotion the last time I went when a guy threw a fit since the P.O. is always understaffed and the lines are always long there). Also, I now know that two stamps will not necessarily cover a bubble mailer unless it is 4x7 and contains one card only. Even two small cards in a 4x7 bubble usually take more than two stamps these days.

It is so simple to go to Target/WalMart and get the padded envelopes. It's just as easy to get to the P.O. and mail out the cards with DC. Sorry to hear about your little problems Ken, hope it gets all worked out.

When a postage due shows up at my place..those people that shorted the shipping fees and made me pay to get my cards are immediately placed on my ignore list. My feeling is, you don't pay to play....you no play with me no more

I work for the USPS, please hold the "going postal" jokes until after I'm through typing. :P

Couple of quick points. If you do not have DC on something the USPS cannot track it. UPS and Fedex can however, but you automatically pay more for it. USPS gives you the choice to pay extra for it. Also if you insure it for more than $300 there is no need to pay for signature confirmation or delivery confirmation. They always try to package those together, but it's just a way of getting a few extra $$ out of you.

The USPS has several flat rate options available to ship with. You buy the envelope/box, and you can put in however much you want, up to one pound, for the flat rate. Also you can have those flat rate boxes delivered to you for free. It doesn't cost you anything until you ship them. If you are mailing cards, like one at at time, it's going to be the same price no matter where in the US you send it. Go to a post office and find out what the price of one card is, then you can apply that yourself from now on.

Going to the P.O. isn't much of a problem for me because it's a 5 minute walk. I sympathize for you here. It would be a pain for that to happen. I've heard about people just not paying the postage due and nothing happens.

Yeah thats really bothersome, and shows a lack proper trading etiquette. If one is not 100% certain the postage is correct, why the heck would you send it? They should be going to the post office then and mailing them that way.
