Reds Winter Caravan
I went to the Reds Winter Caravan a couple of months ago and got to meet a selected group of people from the Reds. I got to meet and get autographs of George Grande (Broadcaster), Jeff Brantley (Broadcaster), Dusty Baker (Manager), Jerry Hairston Jr. (Player), Yonder Alonso (Player and #1 prospect in Reds Organization-Got Official Major League Baseball signed on the Sweet Spot), and Chris Dickerson (Player). To top it off while I was there I signed up for a drawing for a pair of 2009 Opening Day tickets, and about a month later I get a call that tells me I won. I just got them in the mail yesterday and I am so excited to be going to my first Major League Baseball game. Has anyone ever been to a Reds game? I was wanting to know if you were able to watch batting practice because in the minor leagues you are not allowed in until it is over. I go see the Louisville Bats (AAA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) a lot.

Its been a couple of years since I have been to a game at GAB, but I do not believe you will get in to see the Reds taking batting practice. However, I was usually wasn't overly concerned about getting there that early.
GAB is a great ballpark, enjoy yourself there--much better to watch a game at than the old Riverfront stadium. They have a nice "fan zone area" on the first base side of the stadium. Also, make sure you check out the Reds Hall of Fame, which is located beside the ball park.

I live in Cincy and go to 20-30 games a year. I'm biased being a Reds fan but NOTHING beats Opening Day in Cincinnati, my advice would be to get to Downtown early enough for the Parade, this year Frank Robinson is the Grand Marshall, stop at Skyline Chili Downtown for a couple cheese coneys and immediately following walk down to the park, gates should open 2 hours before gametime. The place should be electric this year, it always is but this year there is actually a lot of hope here going in to this season, this town is starving for a winner!!! You will have a great time, I would put it on par with going to Rupp Arena during a big SEC game! Enjoy and GO REDS!!!!!!

by the way, you may want to call the ticket office to find out exactly when the gates open, I recall in the past they open earlier on Opening Day so you'll have a better chance to check out BP, and like Booyahlaw said before me definetly check out the Reds Hall of Fame, it's reasonably priced and should be open after the game, when it opened a few years ago it was considered the best HOF mueseum in baseball outside of Cooperstown, although I'm not sure how many teams even have one! Again congrats and enjoy!!

Not sure about opening day but on other games the gates will open 1-1/2 -2 hours before game time.
Head to section 133 and go right down by the railing to the left of the field tarp for autos. You should also get some chances to grab some ground foul balls from BP.
Stay there until an usher tells you it's time to get to your seat.(about 15 minutes before game time)
Have a marker or pen for the player to sign with.
I have been able to get at least one auto in that spot every game I go to.
It's really cool to be that close to the field. A couple years ago my son and I were lucky enough to be able to take BP on the field during VIP day.
