hmm, tough one, Id say its down to CC Sabathia, Vijay Singh, or Stewart Cink- unless you are counting paid signings, then Dante Lavelli, Len Dawson, and AJ Hawk are all on the list as well

    Some of my favorites:

Randy Moss (2006 Marshall University Green/White Spring Game) They brought back the undefeated team to celebrate and have some of the players coach the game for fun. Randy rarely comes back to Marshall and when he does, no one knows it until after the news reports it. He is very good with his privacy and sneaks in and out a lot. So I went down to the local card stores just in case and bought some base cards of all the guys including Randy, joking I would get him. It stunk seeing all the rich people/important people on the field getting him to sign stuff since they had passes. So it was the second half and Randy comes over to the side of the stadium to sign. He has his own black sharpie and he starts signing for the first row. He wasn't reaching for peoples stuff, just what was in front of him and he'd randomly sign, jump over people, sign more, skip two, sign more. So I had to run over seats and railings. Finally got to about the 40 yard line and a lady asked if I wanted his auto. She said I could have her spot because she just wanted a picture of him. Ended up getting him, man that was HUGE for me!
(picture of him signing that day. I was down to the right not in the picture, of course he starts moving to the left, but I got him! But yea...it was a pretty big mess, even brought his own security team with him(big guys in green hats))

Chad Pennington (2009 Green/White Spring Game) Got him after my buddy told me he was going to be in town to speak with the team. It was great to be able to walk right up to him and ask him to sign. He is always great in person and the 3-4 time I've gotten him and he is always great. But I got him to sign a Press Pass GU jersey card which is one of my favorites since it has some Marshall jersey in it.

Messier is my favorite. Tried for years to get him but I hardly saw him. Maya Angelou was a great non sports autograph for me.

It is funny to see this thread show back up again, but I will have to admit that I have enjoyed reading some of your autograph stories. I decided to add another myself.
Carlos Bearga had signed a minor league contract with the Reds and they started him down with the Indianapolis Indians. This was well after he was an All Star for the Indians. I had went out back after the AAA game to the players exit area to try to get a few autographs. Any of you IP guys know how fun it is to hang out and just talk sports with other guys after a game while waiting. It was even common practice for the members of that crowd to trade cards amoungst each other if there was a player one of the auto hounds did not have. There was a new face there that evening and I started to talk a little with the gentleman. He was really nice and he asked who I was waiting for. I had told him Carlos. The gentleman asked if I might have any extra cards of Carlos as a Mets players and I said sure and gave him a few. I thought it was strange when he thanked me and walked them over and put them in a very nice looking sportscar. He returned and told me that Carlos was his brother. Carlos walked out of the players area a few minutes later and he called him over and told him I had somethings for him to sign and Carlos signed all six of my cards in my auto book. He signed a few for the other guys there as well. I know he is not a huge name, but that is one of the many stories that stick out in my mind from IP autos.

I've got two: Mariano Rivera and Walt Frazier. My mother's work had a dinner with Mariano and I got to meet him and hes one of my heroes b/c I'm a hugee Yankees fan. He was very down to earth and we got to ask him questions for a couple minutes. Answered questions with a smile on his face, always laughing. A mets fan that was there jokingly told him the Mets were gonna win the World Series and he laughed and said I like my chances better or something along those lines. Got to take a picture with him and he spoke to everyone as they took pictures with them.
Also, this time my father's work had a lunch with Walt Frazier. Very nice man. Didnt go off and sit at his own table like Gary Carter. Sat down at table with us and just talked basketball like any other guy. Funny and very pleasant.

I do not have much IP autographing experience, but my wife treated me to a broadway show for my birthday a few years back. It was the original cast of 'Spamalot.' Great show...anyone who loves Monty Python and the Holy Grail would love this because it is essentially Holy Grail, but with funny lyrics.

Anyway, after the show we exited out of the side of the building and I noticed a small crowd standing outside of a door. It was the actor's entrance. I managed to get in the front row and, while my wife took pictures, got to meet most of the cast, each signing my Playbill - David Hyde Pierce, Sara Ramirez, and about 4 or 5 others. Only bummer was Hank Azaria taking the day off.

Mickey Mantle when I was about 5-6 years old is probably my best, but I don't remember it...

I got to meet Gordie Howe at a book signing and he was super cool- I talked to him for like 5-10 minutes

One of my favorites has to be back in my batboy days for the Chattanooga Lookouts, they would have exhibition games with the Reds once a year- I got lucky and got to work 3 of them and met/got autos from some great players like Larkin, Palmiero, Javy Lopez, miguel tejada (what a character), Adam Dunn (loved working with him), Griffey (hated his guts) and my favorite Cal Ripken Jr.
