What's the #1 pick guaranteed? $15 million? It's pretty easy to be set for life once you have accumulated $15 million in 3 years. His status as a former #1 pick will be more valuable financially than a college degree. It's not even close. A college degree is highly overrated, especially when someone has as much talent in other areas as does Blake Griffin.

EDIT: If he plays long enough, his NBA pension is probably a better paycheck than what the average college grad could do job-wise.

But what if he makes $15k flipping burgers and blows it on crack. Then he gets fired and all of a sudden no pay? I don't see what your point is, unless it's that massive amounts of money corrupt people into foolish spenders. And they wouldn't overstep their means if it wasn't for the huge payday? If that is the point, I think it's a pretty callous view on humanity.

If Griffin doesn't go pro, Rubio would be the #1 pick because he won't be drafted this year! NBAdraft.net doesn't have him in this years draft - he's on the mock draft list for 2010...I don't even think he qualifies for this years draft!

As for Psycho T, he'll be drafted - according to NBAdraft.net, he'll be a late first-rounder, but I think he'll be an end-of-lottery selection - I just don't see 15 teams that make the playoffs passing on his potential talent in the NBA.

This statement and the one about how it's sad how people would choose the NBA over a 3rd year in college pretty much cripple your credibility.

I guess Michael Jordan is a money-first guy because he skipped his last year. He could've won two championships. Chris Paul came out early. Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, and Dwight Howard passed up the chance to be a winner in college for the NBA.

Yes it's truly sad when people make good financial decisions that will help provide for their families for the rest of their lives...

I believe that he is a freshmen (correct me if i'm wrong) i think everyone should go back and graduate if they dont do so before they declare, what if Chris Paul blew his knee and was done forever, no college degree, and must live off what he had...getting a college degree for some people is more important than money, i'll take the college degree, and know i'll still get money in a few years, especially considering i'm on a full ride scholarship most likely if i was able to go pro

You know there is a life after they quit the NBA, and with the way these guys spend, they aren't set for life either...Only the Stars (LeBron, Kobe, Paul and a few others) will be because they can get endorsements after they retire, but the rest of the guys won't have a degree to fall back on at all...

thats my point, these players often spend to much and are in finacial crisis very shortly after retiring at age 36-40, they still have anywhere from probably 30-50 years left to live, a college degree, would benefit them to have something to fall back on, the bench players who make league minimum, if they spend the money to quick, they wont have much after the NBA
