Can you blame him? If I bought something for $50.... and a few months later someone wants to buy it from me.... I should be expected to sell for $40 ??

I don't know what the card was, or the exact circumstances... maybe it's just my own purchasing habits..... but if I buy a card for 'X' dollars, and then someone sent me a message saying "Man, I really need that card for my PC" if it were something I liked (it had to have been, if I bought it) but didn't absolutely have to have..... then maybe I would be willing to sell it to the guy, but why would I take a loss?

Really.... if I'm being approached to sell a card, you had better be willing to pay at least as much as I paid to get it. If it's gone down in value since then, so what? I can see the conversation now:

Dude X: "Hi, I see you've got 'X Card' in your bucket, would you consider selling it? I really need it for my PC."

Me: "Yeah, well, I guess so. I paid $50 for it a couple of months ago. I could let you have it for the same $50 if you really want it."

Dude X: "Well, on eBay they only sell for $40 now, so I can't go any higher than that."

Me: "Yeah, but I paid $50, and I do kinda like the card. Why else would I have bought it? I'm not going to take a loss on the card just because you want it."

Dude X: "But on eBay, it only sells for $40."

Me: "Then buy it on eBay."

I just don't see the big deal. If I've got cards I want to sell, or cards you want to buy from me..... the potential seller needs to be up front with his asking prices. Ask for double eBay prices if you want. If his prices are too high, and you can get it on eBay cheaper.... then buy it from eBay. Nothing wrong with trying to haggle a little bit either.... but at the end of the day, no one should feel obligated to sell for less than they're comfortable with.... just like no one should feel obligated to buy for more than they're comfortable with.

I litterally just had a situation where the guy wanted 20% over ebay cause thats what he paid when he bought it originally

If someone has a card I want and I inquire about buying thats one thing, but when a guy makes a post talking about how he needs to sell cards cause he lost his job..... Sorry you gotta take the going rate if you need to sell.
