i've always just loved the hobby. i never bust a box expecting to make a profit but if i do i usually put the money back into my pc anyway. its always fun to add new cards and keep up with all the unique auto's/ game used of your player. for a sports fan there's nothing like it.

I collect for the sheer fun involved. I've just recently started collecting again with some birthday/tax money I got, so I'm likely more involved now than I will be in a couple months. I'm starting a PC and I'm hoping to be able to make some trades to help it grow. Next year around this time I'll be able to sink a little more (guilt-free) money into cards, and I hope at some point to be able to get something worth a little change. Ideally I'd like to be able to make back what I've spent and use any extra on more cards. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Who am I kidding? Nothing better than getting and digging through a new box, or even a single pack!!

I use the hobby as a distraction from everyday stresses. It gives me something else to focus on other than the mundane of everyday living.

I am a buyer, not a trader. It keeps things more simple that way and prevents the temptation of someone trying to get one over on me. To me there is no difference between AU RC cards or just plain AU cards. The one thing I will not collect are sticker AU cards.

I love collecting because it goes hand in hand with my love of baseball. It is the thrill of finding a new card I need for my collection, the memories of certain games, time spent with my step son at our local hobby shop opening packs and talking sports and of course trading here on SCF, lol.

    Collecting is a drug.

I collect because I see it as sort of an extension of my loyalty and fandom for my teams and players. Plus its fun chasing player sets like rainbows, and busting packs/boxes is fun too.

"Profit" from cards just comes with the territory. If I bust a box and get a nice card, most of the time I will sell it so I can buy a card I want with the money. In a sense its not really profit. But I don't engage in straight up profit-making like flipping cards or anything. It would seem like too much of a job at that point.
