pretty easy to do that kind of stuff against the new york rangers. In my opinion the rangers pretty much stink. Ovechkin would never be able to do that to Nick Lidstrom. Why is the ranger defenseman looking straight down at the puck??? And what the heck was lundquist doing on that play, he was way out of position. I still dont think ovechkin is as good as Sergei Fedorov was in his prime. Ceck this vid out
Pavel datsyuk has just as good or better moves than ovechkin. Datsyuk can go into a corner with 5 of the opposition, and still come out with the puck. Zetterberg and franzen are just as good as well. Crosby and malkin are both worse than ovy and the wings top 3.

So you're saying that Franzen, Zetterberg, and Datsyuk are better Ovie, Crosby, and Malkin?
I know you're a Wings fan but come on.
Lets not turn this into who's the best player argument, if we want to do that, then someone start a new thread.
This thread is to give props to Ovie for his great goal, and whether you like him or not it was a great goal. No matter who against, what defense, what goalie, it was good. Give him credit

Now I disagree with part of this. AO is more "complete" as he is willing to get dirty if he needs to, whereas Sidney and Geno I don't think are as willing (I know Sid jumped McLean earlier in the season, but thats not what I is refering to). I think this is a part of AO's game that distinguishes him from Sid or even Geno.
I will concede the Malkin is more of a rounded player on both sides of the ice than both Sid and AO.
But think about this, if you are a GM and you had to pick between Sid, AO or Geno to start your franchise, could you really go wrong?Last edited by scottkoz20; 04-25-2009 at 01:39 PM. Reason: man, I can't spell or use decent grammar

I don't mind small debating, but if we want to discuss this further, I do agree that a new thread should be started

you forgot Fedorov too. Theyre just as good if not better. I know everyone is jealous of Detroit. Count the hardware though. Ovy doesnt know how to play any defense either. The red wings guys are complete 2 way players.
And theres something to be said for playing in the eastern conference vs. the western conference. I dont think ovy would score as many if he were in the west.Last edited by michiganice91; 04-25-2009 at 02:09 PM.

Ovie can't play defense? I beg to differ, even been proven in this series...
There's two great defensive plays right there.

I agree theres more defense in the west, but much else of what you said is shenanigans. Are you trying to say every player on the wings is a complete player??
Ovie is fantastic in all 3 zones. He may actually score more in the west because he wouldnt be facing the insane level of goaltending he does in the east.
