    Both of the defensive plays I posted did not have penalties, nor did they deserve penalties. When you make contact with the puck first, it's not tripping.

    And I don't think Franzen's goals can compare to Ovie's.

    not true..the trip doesnt depend on whether or not you get the puck..a trip is a trip. And slashing is based on intent, not contact, so technically that giant wind up is deserving of a slash.

    No your actually wrong, if you touch the puck its not tripping and you need to actually slash a guy to get a slashing penalty. Also, franzen is not in the league of Malkin/Crosby/Ovechkin. Zetterberg and Datsyuk are close. They are in the next 5 with Savard, Parise and Thornton IMO
