    Variation Cards

I noticed a few ebay listings (220399402187, 220399398760) for these so-called variation cards and was stunned with the prices. I think these are print defects but someone calls them a variation and commands crazy $$. These are 25 cent 1980 Topps common cards: one sold for $141.70, the other one sold for $169.38.

Does anyone really collect this stuff? And why would anyone pay so much money for it?

(probably should post these pics here so people can reference this post after pics expire off the ebay site)

I kinda collect misprints but not really. I have 3 misprints and one that has a rounded corner (it's not damaged) but I wouldn't expect to get even $5 for any one of the cards.

For one it looks like some shill bidding helped out the auction. The person bid it to a certain lvl and then let somebody else get on the band wagon.
