I follow him one his junior years, Giroux is a very great player, good hockey sense, he can pass and he can score. The only reason he's been draft not sooner than the end of the first round is his little stature.

I agree. Very exciting player who will grow into a top 5 point guy on the team. There is nothing wrong with a 25 goal, 70 point guy who can play PK and PP and make his teammates better. He's a very solid prospect who could be better than those expectations.

giroux
hey guys in case you missed it bobby clarke said on otr that giroux is not a future young star but is already a star in the nhl
that's high praise from someone who knows something about hockey
and in case you guys have forgotten many people including my habs passed on such a player of similar stature when he was young.
his name is daniel briere tell me he doesn't make the flyers a better team when he's in their line-up.
just my opinion but the sky's the limit for giroux

Ok...lets be serious here. After Februar, Giroux was the highest scoring rookie in the league. He has a lot of upside.
If you look at Jeff Carters Rookie YEar, and mike Richards rookie year, Giroux is playing better than both of them. All of the Flyers analyst say it, and he has the best vision on the team. People who watch him get excited easy because of his raw skill. Simply put, he was our best player in the playoffs. He makes something out of nothing. He's the Flyers best a passer next to Mike Richards and with confidence he will only get better.
Chris Therrien predicts in 3 years he will be a 100 point scorer. I'm not going that far, but I will not be surprised if he is in the 80-95 point range in his 3rd year. He is completely nasty with the puck, and never gives up on a play.

anyone who watched the world juniors can attest to what richie just said. i know it was the juniors, and i know it was a couple years back.. but seriously, i don't know how anyone can't praise this kid..
a couple other things that he's got going for him is that he's ok with the rough stuff and tough areas, and he's also got a little bit of that swagger players of his style need to become truly elite..
very good player, and very underrated / less talked about with carter, richards, and even JVR (being from the usa) and his high draft number...
giroux will be a top offensive player.. good thing you chose a guy to collect richie ;)

I decided last year that I would make him my guy once he put up the GMJHL playoff points record in 2007-2008!
I'm not sure i'm ready to compare him to forsberg, but he definitely has the vision like Forsberg, and he doesn't shy away from the rough stuff. He hits hard for his body weight and is able to control the puck just fine. Next year will be a big test, but I'm guessing next year he hits the 50-65 point range....possibly 70 if he's on the powerplay.

i kind of see him already as a smaller getzlaf, his stick movement and strength remind me of that.. forsberg i'll give him time to get there...

Please in a million years I would be happy if no young prospect was ever compared to Daniel Briere again...That guy is simply a poor excuse for a hockey player and hockeys equivalent to Ken Griffey Jr with time spent on the Disabled list

the poor excuse for a player as you refer to yes he is injury prone but look
at the way he plays for such a small guy who stands in front of the net and takes a pounding.
I'm sure you didn't see carter and gagne in front of the net much
briere in case you missed was still one of philly's best forwards during the playoffs.
the guy's got heart look what he went through to become the player he is
remember just about every team had a crack at this guy in the draft and passed on him due to his size.
you're knocking the guy for his history of injuries and then you make a stupid comparison to Ken Griffey who has hit 600 home in his career.
c'mon buddy get a grip on reality!Last edited by jolivei2008; 05-04-2009 at 11:27 PM.
