It could make a difference if demand goes up. Its really about anything that makes demand go up. Like all the people paying huge premiums for Varlamov right now.

If you want to start a collection of a player in his rookie year. Great! do it from the ground up. Only keep in mind that you run the huge risk of using all your resources of buying at a premium or trading your best cards to get his stuff. It "is" a crap shoot. Absolutely! next year he could stiffen up and play crappy, or be sent down to the minors. Or! Could have a sensational season again. Who Knows, and what will everyone like to jump on the bandwagon for then again?
The test of time always determines what is best to collect. While everyone goes crazy, and speculates on who the next Gretzky is, or Roy for that matter. There are people here that know this, and capitalize on that.
If I were to give up the Three Masons I have in my PC for the sets I have, and that's the only reason I have them. Sure! Give me tons of Jagrs in return! Done Deal. And I mean Tons.
However realistically. What if factor involved. Two years down the road. Interest in Mason drops. Will we be able to make this deal? No!
Point is. Strike the iron while it's hot.
I wish I already had the Varlamov Artifacts redemption in hand that I have coming. I could catch a ton of Jagrs for that.Searching for: Jagr, Palffy, Stumpel, and Boyd
