The puck was there, Kronwall anticipated him playing the puck. I mean its right under him.

It didn't take a bad bounce off a seam in the boards. How lame of an excuse?? Are you sure it even hit the boards? Maybe it bounced off a little patch of "snow" on the ice? geez. LOL

    Who here plays NHL 09??

I am sure if you do, that this has happened to you before..

Puck comes around the boards with the guy about to play it. You line him up and go to check him (as he is about to touch the puck) but instead of touching the puck the player just doesn't touch it purposely and you get called for a penalty?

Havlat could have played the puck with his stick, he saw Kronwall coming and maybe thought that Kronwall was going for the puck so he let it go between his feet hoping to make a play and deke Kronwall out.

Its hockey. He took a HARD clean hit. Thats it, bottom line. It wasn't dirty. It was a CLEAN hockey hit.

If he had his elbow up (ala Scott Stevens on Kariya) then I would agree that it is Dirty. I am not a Wings Homer guys. If its dirty, its dirty.

But this hit was clean and anyone arguing has limited logic.

    Did anyone hear the announcers??

They called it a HORRIBLE penalty.

Why was the Game Misconduct warranted?? It wasn't.

You guys keep trying to defend the fact that it was "dirty" I find it quite amusing....

    Thanks
    Mike

i didnt say it was dirty, i said it was technically called by the book. the puck took a very wierd hop off the wall take a look. He never actually played the puck, he was trying to. Under interefence rules in the NHL rulebook this is interference and when a player is injured while a penalty is committed it is an automatic game misconduct. I didn't write the rules.

Stang as for the announcers I think it all depends what broadcast you watch. As you have the various ones so not sure what was said on one broadcast in the U.S. versus the Hockey Night in Canada (I watched that one). Of course they never said nothing about it being a dirty hit.

As for playing the puck I stated I can live with the call as long as they call that all the time. I just think he wanted to put it between his feet instead of playing it so he could get up the ice faster. As every second counts in trying to get up the ice against the wings. Ask Kane as everytime he finds a millisecond to shoot the wings have pretty much stopped him thus Havlatt trying to not put it on his stick until he was moving.

The bottom line for me is Campbell talks about hits to the heads being dangerous. That the NHL needs to make the game safe and so on. If that the case why is he even hitting like that if he truly believes what he said. I just think he defending a teammate as most players, coaches, and hometown fans do.

I love open ice hits. It just like football if you can get into your opponents heads and have them worried about getting hit. I can only imagine after getting laid out like that what it like to try to just get back on the ice and not worry about it (would be hard).

p.s. thanks to ever put the little picture together about showing him with his feet on the ice at time of impact. As it hard to watch it in slow motion to determine that.

At first I didn't watch the Campbell hit. It wasn't a dirty hit, it was just hard and he caught someone with his head down.

It is unfortunate that the people getting hit like this most of the time get knocked out, but thats why you have to keep your head up.

Kronwall isn't a dirty player, he is just good at what he does. Just like Holmstrom being good at standing in front of the net. Sure you might not like it, but its part of the game and they are one of the best at what they do.

Remember Konstantinov? He used to lay people out just like that, when they are coming out of the zone looking back for the pass.

How about this, who saw the clip of when Kane tried to bump into Franzen after a whistle and Franzen took Kane's mouthpiece out and tossed it on the ice?? TOTAL DISRESPECT!!!..... lol

I am not saying that it shouldn't have been an interference penalty, and I didn't know that when a player was hurt that it was an automatic misconduct.

Havlat wasn't hurt that bad. He came back for the rest of the second period and he played in the next game. I am sure he probably has a concussion but he still played the next game.

Look at the Wings, they were without Lidstrom, Draper, and Datsyuk.

3 of their top players and they still won 6-1.

In that Anaheim series, it wouldn't have gone 7 games if the Refs called penalties like they should have.

My voice is only saying that the Kronwall hit wasn't dirty.

    Thanks
    Mike
