I had a hard time discerning what was actually in the link, could you sum it up for us? Is there a boycott going on?

How is this not a much bigger thread? These scam artists are going to take Beckett, which was once great, and take the stinking carcass that remains of what Jim Beckett already sold, and then use it to scam, and steal from people. This is bad for our hobby folks. There's too much lying, cheating, scamming, and stealing in our hobby as it is. If the so called "leading authority" in the hobby has become part of an outright mail fraud scam, it bodes very poorly for the future of sports cards.

Click on the "About" link of that blog for a very interesting summary of how Beckett has gotten to this point. The blog is apparently written by a former Beckett employee who is unhappy with the current owner of Beckett Media.

Thanks, just read it. And wow, I really had no idea about that stuff. I've never subscribed to any OPG, so hopefully they don't try to swindle me. I should be ok because I have never gave them any credit card info.
It's ashame too, because I used to enjoy visting the old Beckett site.

The new Beckett and the new website are a complete joke! Can't wait for the SCF OPG to finally be launched. I'd gladly spend twice the money for pricing that I do on Beckett to support this great site!!!

the sports card industry is dirty, no other way to put it. beckett is just another big player in this industry that has succumb to greed and corruption, no different than any of the others. anyone ever notice that the big-time dealers always have the best things (see: wolverine24) - its because they have ins with all of the companies. beckett has more than likely always been the same way, its just been magnified by the complete overhaul of the company. the hobby is no longer about the joy of collecting, its about the most money you can make off of other people.

Very sad. I was looking at some old FB Becketts (1990) the other day and you can see how the quality of the price guide has changed since the mid 90's. The new guide and site are garbage.

I hate to say it but I still subscribe to becketts pricing. I think if a different guide comes out and is accurate i would switch over though.

Well Ebay is a crook in that it does not take care of the bad listing when people contact them. So the issue is all about the bottom line in my opinion.
Very true that many are just in the hobby for dollars and cents and no longer the pure enjoyment of the attachment to th game etc. Perhaps when those people fall by the way side we can get back to truly collecting and enjoying the hobby.
p.s. You all might want to read the article about the 6000 resealed UD Cases LOL. That was a doozy as well as UD much like Beckett her had some employee let it get out. Of course there is two side to every story. The hard thing is from time to time figuring out how much of the truth each party is divulging as usually no one lays it all out there.
