I collect a bunch of minor league sluggers who completely failed on the major league level. Bernardo Brito (who didn't fail so much as was never given a chance), Hensley Meulens, Dann Howitt (who hit the last HR Nolan Ryan gave up), Steve Howard (though even his minor league stats don't show much success) and Tuffy Rhodes (who has the record for most HR by a foreign player in Japan with 474).

I may have to start collecting Scott McClain!

I collect NFL Hall of Famer rookie cards only because I went to the NFL Hall of Fame this summer and was so fascinated by it I wanted my collection to look like it.

    Cool thread by the way!

As you can see in my signature... I don't collect anything too odd. However, I wanted to say that this is one of the coolest threads. It's awesome too see all of these cool collections. Now, I've got to think about what kind of odd collection I want to start.

Here is an idea that I was tinkering with... It does not really apply to me and my hometown, (from Philadelphia) but I did live in Phoenix for 10 years so here goes...

Teams like the Padres, Mariners, Rockies, and in my case the Dbacks. I would like to start collecting players that were on the inagural roster that year... I dont remember too much of the first year, but Im sure I would be surprised at the old timers that made one more squad, and some of the rookies that were in the MLB ranks.

I think that may be something that I look into. Just as a little side project

I collect a little of everything from comics to toys with not much being to odd (I don't think so anyways)

However the one odd thing I do have is 2 summers ago I got the opportunity to take the family to the Cincinnati Reds VIP day at GABP. You got a light breakfast then were able to tour the ball park, take batting practice (on the field!) tour the locker room, dugouts etc.

I went prepared with some small plastic containers because if I got the chance my son and I wanted to grab some infield dirt. Well they kept a good eye out for that (rats!) BUT we were able to score some warning track dirt in front of the Reds dugout. That's not really that odd but there were peanut shells down by the railing that we figured were from some of the players so we scooped up a few of those to add to the dirt.

Any rate it will be a great memory years from now when my son asks"hey Dad do you remember the time at GAPB when we....?"
