sorry for any flyer fans but this was just a garbage deal. you give up a 1st round prospect d man, TWO 1st round picks, and a decent winger for a guy who is a free agent in a year? sorry thats just stupid. not to mention his age (34) and his contract on TOP of phillys already rediculous cap due to terrible signings. its time to clean house in philly. managment there is terrible

i agree about the management and i think we need a tougher coach. no disrespect to coach stevens, but i just don't think he is the right guy for this team. i'm still pretty skeptical about the emery signing still, although I do like us getting Progner. It sucks about losing Sbisa, but like everyone is saying; he probably won't have time to play on this team.
Let's hope this deal does us good. GO FLYERS!l collect Philadelphia Eagles (NO VICK CARDS), Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Tigers.

How come people keep saying that we are in such cap trouble? We are 4 million under the cap right now. We need 2 forwards, probably a #6 dman and a backup goalie. One of Carle or Jones will probably be traded since having a 3.5 mil or 2.75 mil #6 dman doesn't make any sense freeing up even more money.
The bottom line is that Lupul was going to make to much money this year so Lupul and a 1st was the salary dump, Sbisa and a 1st was for Pronger. And Richied98 is right, we paid a pretty high price but you have to give to get! I am excited, sad to see Sbisa go, but thats hockey and if this gets us closer to the cup, so be it.

Just about everything Richied98 said about Lupul is right, and Sbisa MIGHT be a very good defensman EVENTUALLY but to win right now I would rather have Pronger instead of Lupul and Sbisa.

any ducks fans want my Luca Sbisa artifacts rookie redemption?......back on to the trade, I think philly didnt take to hard of a hit on that one, they need a d-man who could stop Crosby and Malkin (who they play like 6 times a season) and even Ovechkin (play him 4 times). So really philly did pretty well for this trade
As far as the Ducks......not sure about Sbisa as I have never seen him play but Lupul hasnt played well in a few years, he is still probably a 20 maybe 30 goal scorer but he didnt develop into what I thought he would.....I guess he still has time as he is still pretty young.

hahah im just laughing at everyone talking about the Flyers management.
The only contract that the Flyers have ever handed out that may have been too much money in recent years is Danny Briere. Timmonen is worht ever penny as he is our most valuable player. When he is not in the game our defense turns to mush and our powerplay is awful. Hartnell is well worth the money he is given as well.
When the Flyers finished last in the NHL, the Philadelphia area was shocked. We had made the playoffs for 12 straight years, and this was not something our fans were used to. SO what did Holmgren do? He put us right back into the playoffs and we got to the eastern conference finals.
The only thing our management needs is a new coach. It's just tough because a lot of our p layers love John Stevens since he coached them to a Calder Cup with the Phantoms. But, most of you don't know that.
Lupol is garbage, what he scores in goals is erased by his awful defense and terrible +/-. Sbisa may be good one day but it will take a while, and our two first round draft picks will play for us in MAYBE 3-4 years, and it's not a given that they will play.
Pronger is a great addition to the team. This was a great move for THIS YEARS FLYERS. Also, if Pronger has a great year the Flyers will work to sign him again quickly for 3-4 years.
This is an amazing trade for Philly. Remember, we were going after Jay Bouw and it appears they wanted Gagne and JVR and a draft pick....or possibly Briere instead of Gagne. JVR is going to be a stud. we have Claude Giroux who will be a 100 point scorer in the next 3 years and JVR who will be another top point producer in years to come.
Our defense lacked the toughness and swagger which Pronger brings. He will help Ryan Parent out tremendously, and he will identify with our fans big time.
Great move for the Flyers!
