when blake retires i can appreciate him again. when blake left the kings for the avalanche a few years back i totally understood and was happy to see him get a ring. he wanted a shot at a ring, etc. but when he re-signed with the kings a couple of years ago he said he wanted to finish his career in LA.
the kings weren't very good the last year of his contract and asked if he wanted to be traded to a contender. he refused a trade and the kings didn't get anything for him and then he walked away and signed with SJ. no class in my opinion.
when he retires i'll appeciate what he did for the kings, but for now i'll root against him as much as possible.

he refused a trade and decided he'd rather stick with the Kings for the remainder of the season instead of going to a bigger contender and you're mad at that? I think that shows more class than most players

it would be more class if he re-signed with the kings. but instead he refused a trade when the kings could have got something for him and then he left and signed with their rival and the kings got squat.
in my view, he convinced the kings to sign him because he was "coming home" and wanted to live in so cal, etc. and that's why he vetoed a trade. but a few months later that all went out the window and he left for another team and the kings got nothing for him.
i don't see how that is classy in any way, do you?

Kings got nothing for him because they didn't even make an offer for him when his contract expired. Blake said he expected to re-sign with the Kings but they didn't make any type of offer or interest in the first few days of free agency. Lombardi didn't even return Blake's calls when the free agency started last year

i think we're hearing different stories (not sure which one is accurate). i thought the whole point of bringing in blake was to mentor johnson and doughty? why wouldn't they offer him a contract? that doesn't make any sense.
now, maybe lombardi did change his mind or didn't pursue blake, but that wasn't the story i heard. again, i may be getting incorrect info as i'm not in LA, but from watching all the telecasts of the games (and i watched just about all of them over the last two years) it seemed as if blake turned his back on the kings.

From what I heard is Lombardi told Blake he wanted to wait to see what was going to happen with Sully....but Blake didnt want to wait...
Blake made more money as a Shark....and I guess thats why Kings fans Boo him more than anything at the Staples Center....For Blake, its about the money....
Main reason Kings traded him to Colorado...He wanted to be the highest paid D-man that year...Kings didnt want to pay...
