We have a player who is similiar to Lidstrom in Timmonen. He plays the same role for the Flyers as Lidstrom does. Lidstrom is better of course, but Timmonen is our version and without Timmonen oure team falls apart.

Pronger is nasty, 48 points 26 minutes of ice time, and he's tough. We don't have that. It's different with each team sir. The Flyers need Pronger much more than they would need Lidstrom.

That's something anyone knowledgeable in hockey should understand.

Pronger is way more tough then Lidstrom, that is sure. But, Lidstrom is a big leader, and i'm not sure that Pronger is. He's not a bad player, he's very good, but because he is more tough, I don't think that in 4-5 years Pronger will be tough.

Right now, in the present, Pronger is a very good addition. But after 4-5 years like I said, he will probably be a very normal d-man.

Yeah, I think you may be right. In 5 years the Flyers will only be paying him 525,000 a year, so thats why I feel this is a great move.

He's a future hall of famer, and he is a leader. He is most likely going to wear the A. Right now the Flyers just need someone who is tough and can also move the puck well. We have several fast defenseman who can move the puck very well, but no one who is feared like Pronger. He's just the defensemen we needed.

I'm so happy to see Lupol go, he was such a waste.

doesnt matter what you're paying him, his cap hit will be 5 mil. IMO dumb to give him 7 years. I would have done 3 and then do what neidermayer did and go year by year

great signing i think by the flyers...hes still got a few good years in him...Will it bite them towards the end when hes 40+? maybe, but he should still be decent..

Not entirely sure im sold on Emery though. He never impressed me, and i thought he was the weak link on that Sens team. Only time will tell though I suppose.

Boucher would be a better starting goalie than Emery! When Nabakov was down Boucher put up #'s better than Nabakov! When Boucher was in Phoenix he got 5 shutouts in a row setting a NHL record and it was in Phoenix! Boucher has played on some horrible teams and playing on a great team like San Jose his #'s were great! Philly has a really good team so is Boucher is their starter his #'s should be really good. Emery will mess it up! He will do something stupid for sure.

Pronger will be good until his late 30's or early 40's. You are talking about someone who is still averaging 26 minutes haha. That was second in the league last year.

Just like any player, the only thing that can really hurt him long term is a serious injury. IT can happen to any player, at any age.

5 mill a year for a future hall of famer who has won a cup, and who gives the Flyers what they needed is perfect in my eyes.

Everyone also forget that this will lower his cap number after this year as well from 6.25 million to 4.921. Thats over 1.39 million we will save in cap space next year.

    But Pronger isn't Lidstrom.

Do the flyers are over the salarial cap now ?

No they arent. Prongers cap number is still 6.25 million and will lower to 4.9 over the years of the extention.

Lupols cap number was set to be 4.25 million, so why is everyone crying over less than 700 thousand dollars. Haha, people sometimes are ridiculous and don't think.

This move is simply fantastic for the Flyers. Even if after 4 years Pronger starts to slow down, he will still bring so much value to the team.

    So excited for this year
