Cheers everyone, what a great welcome. I became a Saints fan because when I first started watching and then playing football (flag, then 8s and finally full 11s in the Irish League), the Saints had some great players like Joe Horn and later Deuce McAllister. He may never have put up gaudy numbers (he was dreadfully unlucky with injuries), but Deuce is one of my favourite RBs of all time. His skills were incredible and watching film I'll never know how his reputation wasn't bigger, it's a real shame to see him out of the game.

Recent years have been a bit kinder than when I first starting following them. I've had my eye on Brees ever since he was drafted and I'm delighted to see him doing so well. I think we're due another 8-8 season though, the Saints seem to have too many off days when the team as a whole just isn't at the races. They might get rid of Payton as well to boot.

Awesome I always like to hear how people become fans of teams when they don't have a home team to root for.

Welcome to SCF! Glad you decided to join us here on the boards. This is the best place to trade cards, talk about em, or just meet other Saints fans like yourself. The Saints def. have one of the bigger followings on the boards here so you'll meet friends quickly and be able to check out other collectors stuff. Its really cool to see the NFL is growing across the pond even to Dublin! I'm sure you can find some cards you need for your collection on the boards. Is it hard to find NFL cards over there? Ive always looked for soccer cards here in the States and I only ever find MLS stuff, but I'm looking for the good European stuff. How to update your profile: Go to your User CP located at the top of the screen on the 2nd toolbar. Under “Your Profile” click on Edit Your Details. Fix the appropriate info and then scroll down and click save.

Hey Herdsman,

Thanks for posting. The NFL is big in Ireland now, a bit like in the late 80s, but that petered out after a few seasons. The London games are definitely helping to copperfasten football over here though.

You can't buy NFL cards in any stores to my knowledge. I always buy over the internet and usually by the box. My brother and I run our own games and hobby shop near Dublin, so I've shifted a few dozen boosters a season through the shop, but I get them for my own consumption first and foremost.

Soccer cards shouldn't be a problem to get. What league are you interested in (English Premiership, La Liga, Serie A)? The best cards for England are called Match Attax, produced by Topps. They're different to American Sports cards, but they're really nice compared to the soccer stickers of my youth. If you want a few packs when the new season kicks off get in touch.
