I'd say just watch some races and pick a driver you like, also watch the lower series, it is great to pick an up and comer that has a just a few out instead of the Thousands of Jr.'s and Gordons etc. and just start buying or trading for a few here and there and watch your collection grow as he gets more out. To me it's kind of col to collect an up and comer because it's easier and cheaper to get his cards.

I am thinking on this end, keeping it cheaper etc...

Just wanted to say welcome! And whoever you pick, good luck with your collection. I know as a fellow FB/Racing split collector (like your thinking of doing), press pass usually is the lowest of low end when it comes to football....but with racing, they make some incredible cards. You definitely won't be let down!

Dave Rezendes was a Nationwide (Busch) driver from Assonet, Massachusetts

Another couple of local guys would be Ricky Craven from Newburgh, Maine. Any of the Bodine's from Chemung, NY. Logano of course has been mentioned. Truex also was mentioned. Regan Smith from Cato, NY. Boris Said from New York City. Kevin Lepage from Shelburne, Vermont. Andy Santerre from Cherryfield, Maine. There's Mike Stefanik of Coventry, Rhode Island.

There's also a few from PA, if you're looking to venture that far away.

That's about all I could come up with for you as far as local flavor. The best is to find someone who really stands out to you. Start watching a bit more if you don't already. Maybe pick a newcomer, someone racing around in the Nationwide series or Truck Series who is showing potential. Good luck with whoever you chose and let us know, as I'm sure any one of us on these boards could really jump start your collection.

Welcome Roger! Good to see some interest from non-racing members looking to get into it-its a bunch of fun and I wish you luck!

As far as picking a driver-As previously said Id watch a few races and interviews and maybe see who sparks your interest-if you want the bad guy villian role you can pick kyle busch, if you want very normal drivers who are good but dont garner a lot of attention you can go for those, you can go for the thrill seekers and attention getters on the good side of the fence, or you go for a hot rookie, the most popular, or a backmarker to midpacker-either way it is definitely fun!!! Good luck with making a choice :)

Ok so I haven't figured this out yet......I tried to see if there were certain sponsors that I like, such as the UFC, WWE, Patriots but I didn't see any drivers with these sponsors.

I thought that the WWE had a driver back in the day, maybe not anymore?.......

    Still on the hunt.....

WCW/nWo sponsored a car a few times for Jerry Nadeau back in the day.

With you being a Patriots fan, Randy Moss has his own truck team. Randy Moss Motorsports owns the #5 Truck of Mike Skinner and the #81 of Tayler Malsam.

Thanks for the response John, I will keep that in mind. Honestly I don't know how I might choose who to collect as I would be new to this....

You could do like I did and watch a race and pick the prettiest car...
