i have a canon printer/scanner, i know how to get pictures from a camera onto the pc

i just need to learn how to use the printer/scanner to scan onto the computer instead of onto a piece of paper

I've never used the combo setups but there should be software with the scanner/printer that will allow the scanner to let you send the pic to the computer instead of the printer which sounds like what is happening. Check your scanner/printer user's guide.
Canon is a great company that makes pretty good printers, cameras etc, so there should be a way.

I don't like it when I see buckets that have camera pictures. You should definitely use the scanner, since you got one.

Isn't there a program that you would install? There should have been a CD that came with it to install a driver for your printer and a software for your scanner....
