My guess would be that both of the 2 top bidders needed it for a set or something and the first one put in a huge bid thinking that there would be no way it would go really high, and the guy that won decided to place a ridiculous bid like $100 at the last second to make sure he beat the other guy but was probably expecting the max bid of the first bidder to be significantly lower. I've seen people who have said that their strategy is to place a huge bid at the last second, but this is definitely one of the cases where that plan didn't work out so well

It's probably because it's 1/99, making it an eBay 1/1

Maybe they think the auction is for the entire lot.

I was thinking the same thing. Either that or they are a diehard Michael Turner collector, needing that Ebay 1/1 card.

Probably the craziest thing is it wasnt just two people going at it, there was actually a third bidder placing a huge bid in the mix.

This seems a bit odd to me. Shill bidding?
Bidder 5***8 - 8 items bid on last 30 days, 87% of bid activity is with this seller.
Bidder l***u - 20 items bid on last 30 days, 33% of bid activity is with this seller.
Either way, why would you bid almost $70 on a base card #ed /99 of ANYBODY.
