Hi all,
Can I ask a question. I just recently really got back into collecting and my football is getting to where I am starting to get a little PC going and all. So I want to collect 2 sports and my nephew loves hockey and I used to as a kid so why not.
K my question.
Matt Ryan is probably the hottest football player right now collecting wise.
A card #ed 1/10 of him no auto would(a guess) probably sell for maybe $50-75 tops?
Why do hockey players sell for so much? Is it because they are harder to get or not as many people collect hockey or.
Thanx all. :)

hockey players dont sell for so much overall. the difference between malkin and ryan is that ryan is an up and coming decent player while some would say malkin is the best player in his sport right now and he just won a title. in hockey now you have the mega stars-crosby, malkin, ovechkin, followed by a few second tier guys, towes, kane, price, etc. there are more mega stars in the other sports i think so maybe the hockey prices on those guys tend to be a bit inflated.

I have no issues with the BIN on the card. I collect Vanek and truth fully I do not remember what I paid for my Young Gun High Gloss, I did see one end in the last 6-9 months that sold for over $180 and I stepped back for another Vanek collector get one cause I already had one. I never put in my bid and it would have been around $250. Vanek is not in the same league as Malkin. Just look at the book and sale prices on similar RC's(SPA, Young Guns, Trilodgy, Black Diamond) and you will see Malkin goes for a multiple of Vanek. I think the lister definately listed well.
So now that I have answered your question, what do you think it is worth?

I think with these economic times nobody really has a TON of money to spend on these cards...sure some lots (the Crosby one) will sell for a buttttttt load, but 800 is a considerable amount for any rookie card. Keep in mind that his Cup rookie (BV is $2400) doesnt sell for much over $1000...perhaps he is testing the waters and would accept $800 for it if he gets it

IMO he could get $750-$800 for it. Good points everyone.

Sorry bud but one of the last Malkin Cup Rc 3clr sold for 1999.99 and the same seller has another listed with a funny little remark to a question.
Here is the link:http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-The-Cup-EVG...3A1%7C294%3A50
I believe another sold for around $2100 but could not find a link. I have not seen any one clr sell lately but would believe that is what you are talking about.
I follow the three clr ones kinda closely cause I have one and want to stay current with the going prices.
