Ben Roethlisberger - HOF?

Ben Roethlisberger has won 2 Super Bowl titles in 5 years. Does he belong in the conversation of all-time greats or is he a good QB fortunate enough to be playing on great teams?

On one hand, he's a physical specimen and has performed well on the field. On the other, I'm not really in awe of him either, the way I have been of Elway, Manning, Marino, etc.

I'm not in awe of him, but it is only 5 years into his career. Right now, no, he's not a HOFer. If he continues doing as well as he has for at least 5-7 more years, then the HOF can be discussed.

I am a huge Steeler fan and I think it is way too early to mention his name and HOF in the same sentence. He seems to be a winner though. I dont think anyone was in Awe of Fran Tarkenton and a bunch more very successful qbs through the years .

I think its too early to mold his bust in Canton, despite his accomplishments thus far. I'd like to see some better regular season stats out of Big Ben, put a little separation between himself and other QB's. I will say he certainly has postseason accomplishments in his corner.

It's too early to consider Roethlisberger as a HOFer. His future still remains uncertain, as he could suffer a devastating injury that would cut his career short or production could drop later down the line. I say in a few more years, if he continues to play at a high level, then Roethlisberger should get tremendous considerations as a HOFer once he's closing in on calling it quit.

I'm with those who say its too early. Right now Big Ben reminds me a bit of Phil Simms but more athletic.

Well, I certianley wouldn't say Ben 'won' 2 SBs. The first one was a complete joke with the officiating as everyone knows, but his play was horrific: 122yds, 2 picks, 0 td and 22.6 QB rating. Awful.

The second he definatley played better but still only had 250yds, 1 pick, 1 td. And the only td (also as you know) came in the final moments of the game with the most insanley lucky catch by Holmes.

Here is a snapshot of his TD/INT ratio over 5 year career:
04 - 17/11
05 - 17/10
06 - 18/23
07 - 32/11
08 - 17/15

Obviously there are so many more factors than that, but TD/INT is a pretty big one. Minus the 07 year, those numbers are average at best. Nothing impressive again in his statistics. Mediocre and downright terrible performances in both Superbowls.

There should be no consideration as of yet for him to be a Hall of Fame candidate.

Correct on the Super Bowl stats - they speak for themself as he played brutal. That being said, his games to get them to the Super Bowl's were outstanding and like it or not he has a knack to win games... So we can talk about stats till we are blue in the face, Big Ben knows how to win games.
