RGM81, do you work for Upper Deck? Can you read?

The fact that Upper Deck has a monopoly on NHL cards, is that a fair market? Monopolies should be boycotted and not endorsed, people should wake up and act accordingly (by not buying their stuff).

I've collected hockey cards from 1982 to 1991, I stopped in 1992 after the market went amok on itself. I recently started collecting again because I was amazed on how great looking was The Cup product. Little did I know that the product made no sense at all. 3 Base cards from the Montreal Canadiens made me laugh my head off! Great design, zero content!

I mentioned that I LOVE the Upper Deck designs but the content is what makes the product overwhelmingly undesirable.

Let me change my question to... Can someone please show me how to create my own cards? I do not intend to sell any cards for money, this is my way of showing the trading card world that they have no idea what they are doing (I can only speak about hockey)!

No I don't work for Upper Deck. Yes I can read. I can even write.

I certainly empathize with your frustration over the repetition in products we're seeing, but that doesn't in any way impact the legitimacy of what I said in my original post - I found it a little ironic that you trash UD yet still want to use their designs for your customs. It wasn't an indictment of you or your character. And pointing out the Topps/Upper Deck lawsuit wasn't a scare tactic, it was simply done to point out that in these time companies are highly protective of their copyrights and that using the templates of another company for selling--which I never said that you were doing or would do--could potentially be a problem. I don't know if Upper Deck is as litigious as, say, Metallica, but it's never a bad thing to avoid conflict. :)

Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Wow. I had no idea you were a published author. Is the book really worth $76 though?

I use to make customs, and even made a custom set for somebody here (who in turn sent them to fellow members). You can see them here. It really is alot of fun and I quite enjoyed doing it, but know that it can be very time consuming
