Here's an interesting rumor - Knicks are still trying to get Rubio's rights supposedly, and a few newspapers are reporting a possible offer of David Lee (who would be signed, then traded), Nate Robinson and a future first-round draft pick, in exchange for the rights to Ricky Rubio. Of course, there would have to be other contracts involved for the deal to work for Minnesota, but that wouldn't be too tough considering they have Brian Cardinal and Mark Blount under contract, and they make a combined $14 million.

There are reports now, according to David Kahn, that Rubio backed out of a deal...unsure what the deal was, but I'm going to see if I can find out more information about it...
Just found out...David Kahn had made arrangements for Rubio to come to the NBA now through his agent and his former team (DKV Joventut), but Rubio basked out, saying that he wanted to remain in Spain for 2 more years.

So basically we got Mike Miller and Randy Foye for nothing. That's awesome!
Nice job T'Wolves!

Or, if a trade goes through for Rubio, you guys got Foye and Miller for possibly David Lee, Nate Robinson and a first round draft pick...I like the sound of that better

I don't think anyone is that braindead to do that

Yeah, the Wolves would have to get more in return than that

Nick Calathes - PG - Florida - Pick 45
Technically he's a combo guard I guess, but this is another head scratcher anyway. He'd already signed a contract to play in Greece but the Wolves picked him anyway, although I think they traded his rights to Dallas after that.
Rubio is starting to remind me of Fran Vasquez, the guy the Magic picked a few years ago in the 1st round then never came. I hope for Minnesota's sake that Rubio doesn't turn out more like him, because he did pretty much nothing after he stayed in Spain and is pretty irrelevant now.

Man, that really sucks for Minnesota. I just read the whole story. Sounds like the kid was ready to come play, but Minnesota was limited by the amount of money they could use to buy out his contract overseas.
So they in effect gave up a #5 pick for... nothing?

I forgot about him...but he doesn't count anyway, as he won't be in the league this season.

I hope not either - but if we trade his rights, then it won't matter as much (to me anyway)...but, I don't think that will happen as he was VERY good during the Olympics.

For now, yes, but not necessarily - if he comes to MN in 2 years, that'd be great - or, we could trade his rights, and if it's something close to the rumor, MN may end up with David Lee and Nate Robinson for the #5 pick.

That was my whole original point: they drafted four PGs, two won't even play in the NBA for a couple of years at the earliest, and only one will play for them. Not exactly an orthodox draft process, but I'm not criticizing.
