Rock or Rap (a spawn thread)

Which do you prefer rock or rap, or both? I used to be all rap but as I got older and had kids I grew out of it. I don't mind a little rap but have to watch who I am listening in front of. To many F-bombs. I got into Rock. Especially Metallica, Linkin Park, Korn, and so on. The radio station 100.9 (in Syracuse NY) K-Rock every Friday night at 10:00 pm they mix Rock & Rap (Scratch & Sniff) Its pretty good!

that's odd...i feel the same way

i have kids now too...but it's not because of them, and i dont care about the f-bombs...it's more about how the music has gotten really boring and unoriginal, and the language isn't so much vulgar as it is just retarded....it used to be cool to be clever & smart when you rhymed, now it seems like if you rap in anything above a 5th grade level of vocabulary, it's considered wack

i listen now to a lot of the stuff i didn't pay much attention to when i was growing up...basically anything from the 60's, 70's & 80's

My first cd at the age of 10 or so was AC/DC - Who Made Who...I was rock then, I'm rock now, and I was rock everywhere in between. There's only a small amount of rap I can even listen to and a smaller amount that I actually enjoy.

    haha man you're the best,

I prefer rap but not the new stuff that much more like NWA, Scarface, etc etc you know..I still listen to metal/classic stuff sometimes. Not to mention sometimes I do like a little mozart.

I like both and usually just depends on my mood or where I'm at.

I like both myself, but not a lot of the new rap crap ... I like the old stuff myself. As for the rock ... I don't get into this emo rock crap and enjoy more of the old classic stuff like Zeppelin, Floyd, Hendrix etc.

I like both, as well. But shy away from the newer commercialized crap rap stuff. Love the older stuff though.

i like classical music a lot, but i need drums in my music...when i listen to classical stuff, im mainly looking for string sections or sounds that would make good samples for my beats

one of the first beats i ever made was with a sample of beethovens ninth symphony...it was crazy
