Trade Help! Am I THAT off base?
Guys... Maybe I am crazy... Maybe I am crazy... Just wondering... Is this that far fetched of a deal? I made an offer to a fellow trader and he started acting like I slapped his mother. I am not trying to start trouble at all, just wondering if I am ABSOLUTELY nuts for making this offer...
Once again, I AM NOT STARTING TROUBLE, this is a simple yes or no, do not elaborate, share any ideas or start name calling for fear of offending me or anyone involved...
I AM ONLY DOING THIS FOR MY OWN KNOWLEDGE AND RESEARCH
and if this is against TOS, please forgive me, I am on so many sites lately I can't keep track...
Side A)
Marino 99 Leaf R+S Prime Cuts 2-color Patch Books $200
NO AUTO, just a patch
Side B)
Chooses $200 worth of Autos from the following List
00 Topps HOF Ronnie Lott Auto BV 80
00 UD Ionix Authentics Ron Dayne /25 BV 40 (College Uni/Heisman Winner)
04 Sideline Generals Tony Dungy/ Don Shula dual AutoBV 60
08 Absolute RPM Auto Chade Henne BV 40
08 SPX RC Triple Jersey/Auto Chad Henne BV 40
08 Select Red Hot Rookies Chad Henne /25 Auto BV 50
There were also a couple 09 Rookie Autos in the 20-40 range and a couple lower end Henne's as well cant remember what all...
LMK if you think side B made a reasonable request... or in fact, was slapping around someone's Momma... Thanks!

Generally when trading several cards for one card, the person getting several card will get more in BV. I wouldn't even think about it, the Marino all the way over $200 BV from any of those.
BTW, if someone doesn't like an offer a "thanks, but no thanks" is a lot more friendly than telling someone off.....no need to be rude over a trade.
EDIT: thought the Marino was a patch/auto, would rather have autos than a patch jersey. My bad.

That seems fair to me. Just a preference on which one you like better. Thats far from slapping someone's momma lol

i think the B side is a fair offer...but that being said if the other side isn't interested that's their choice too...if in any trade dealings one side doesn't like it, say thanks and move on. Just because one side doesn't like it means either is in the wrong, it's just an opinion or preference. I have traded way over book/sell value in the past, and asked for way over book/sell value in the past. It all depends on preference.
**edit** I thought all cards were part of the deal. I think if 225-250 is offered that would be fair.

i agree with the first response, its a fair offer but make it a little more in side A's favor, maybe 225 total BV

Is the Lott an Auto? If so I'd say it was an OK offer, not great but not terrible.
If I had the Marino, I'd expect it to be a little in my favor as was said, maybe $225-240 considering the player selection of B.

This is just my .02......
In my experience, the person who is trading down (trading one high booking card for several lower booking card) gets some trade in his/her favor. Even tho the card books $200 he most likely wants more than $200 if he is getting $40-$80 cards in return. (I know I would)
Also, he probably expects a premium in trade since it is a dual patch. Typically patch cards sell/trade for higher than their BV. So the other person is potentially looking for $220-$240 in trade considering it is a dual patch of a HOFer.
Third, the bulk of what you are offering is Henne who doesn't sell or trade well. Personally speaking, I wouldn't consider trading a dual Marino patch and get mostly Henne in return.

But it's a grossly overbooked patch......Beckett doesn't seem to correct BVs on older sets anymore.

You could pretty much say the same about Side B's cards.
Dayne is an FA and will likely not be picked up, and Henne doesn't sell well. The only card that would draw would be the Lott, unless Side A were to like coach autos or if some of the unlisted autos were of decent players to Side A's liking. In that respect, its difficult to really tell unless Side A's preferences were known.

Side A doesnt trade by sell value therefore its a moot point... If we went into sell value... he could have chose $130 worth of Auto's for a patch that sold for $60 on eBay the same week of the offer...
