ive seen this card before. Its a fake. It would come with a buyback with matching hologram number.

Yes it would. Sometimes though, careless people, lose or throw away the buyback COA. And other times, they fake a card, and slap a hologram sticker on the back of the card, and say it's real.
I'm just not 100% confident in the auto, but I'm not jumping out and saying it's fake, because I can't say it like it's fact.

Sorry man but I'm going to agree with the concensus so far.

It looks like a 1st grader signed it...and that might be giving it to much credit

I would contact a mod and try to get your cards back...

    alright guys

alright im calling UD tomorrow. even though the guy i got this from is a guy i can trust ill still call myself anyway. now that there has been so many talk of people thinking its fake it will be hard to trade now. in my opinion it looks like any other kobe auto, especially since its from his rookie year his signature probably wasnt well develpoed like it is in later products. and the certification card easily could have been lost by the original owner. i know that there are fake buybacks out there so i know its not ridiculous for people to wonder if all buybacks are real, but you cant necessarily just say its fake without knowing. so thats why i'm gonna call upperdeck tomorrow. i just dont wanna pay for a $20 dollar replacement coa, but i should so everyone will know it's real. but thanks for your opinions. if anyone is still interested and believes its real and would give a reasonable offer just lmk, thanks

And hey, also...perhaps the person who traded it to you wasn't the one who "faked" it if indeed it is a fake. Maybe he/she also traded/bought it believing it to be real. Either way, if it doesn't have a COA, don't get it. Like others have said, try talking to a mod, and get your cards back.

Maybe it's real, maybe it's not, maybe Kobe just signed it like he has never signed a card before who knows...but it's better to be safe than sorry.

Whatever happens man, I just have one word of advise for you in the future, STAY AWAY FROM BUYBACKS! Whether some are real or not, I personally don't trust them since those are the easiest cards to fake.

Also yes you are right the card is from his rookie year but this card was re-released years later as the buyback for him to sign. By that time his signature would have been very developed.

Look at this buyback- it's not the hologram that is the key, it's that it should have had an accompanying COA with a matching hologram. Then you can see that the serial number matches the player:
