Topps Poker Chips
I recently acquired, through a trade, a 2005-06 Topps Poker Chip of Kevin Garnett. I was just curious how someone would acquire one of these new - they couldn't have possibly been inserts in packs...so, how would someone "pull" one of these?
Thanks in advance!

It was a topps poker chip set
Was it just a box of poker chips that were licensed by the NBA? And you'd get random players in the box?

I remember these - I bought a couple of small boxes at Wal-Mart when they came out and were fairly popular. Topps made these poker chips as an exclusive deal, not an insert set of a card set. It was NBA-specific. You can still find boxes of them online.

check ebay...the correct name is "05-06 Topps NBA Collector Chips." But they came in packs of 5 (like a hard plastic, tightly-sealed case thing) or a box of about 20, like a blaster box. You could see a few of what you'd be getting in both the packs and the boxes. Check ebay for them though as there should be some boxes/packs up for sale there.

Ok, cool...not looking to buy any...just curious how someone would've initially acquired one of these. Thanks for the help all!
Oh, and one more question - would you consider this a card? I have, as it's by Topps, and I'm counting it as one of my Garnett's in my collection - just wondering if you think it would be considered a card...not that it really matters, as I'm still going to count it as one...just curious, I guess...

I don't really consider them cards though Beckett lists them in their database.
I guess that's kinda what I was wondering...although I hadn't put 2 and 2 together to form the proper question...lol...thanks for the help, Khendra!

well not as a card type of a card, but yes it's in the same category as cards...they're basically just cards in the form of poker chips...these chips even have refractor variations and some players have insert versions as well.
edit: and i meant check ebay just so you can see how they're packaged and such lol ;)
